Chapter 1107
Chapter 1107:
Memories of her own childhood flooded back—the loneliness, the bullying, the pain of having no parents. She couldn’t bear the thought of Emerson suffering the same fate.
Her body shook as her past resurfaced. One thought consumed her: she had to keep Emerson by her side, no matter what. She had to protect her baby at all costs.
This resolve seemed to steady her nerves, and she slowly regained her composure. She stood, pushed the door open, and stepped out.
Marisa was engrossed in a phone call, standing with her back to Dolores, scribbling something with a pen.
“Don’t worry; I’ll see this through with you. Leave Eileen to me. You must ensure everything goes smoothly,” Marisa said into the phone.
Dolores’ eyes widened in shock as she heard Eileen’s name. Her mind raced, trying to process the unexpected connection. Unfortunately, Marisa didn’t reveal any more information. She ended the call after saying, “Just keep me out of it.”
Dolores didn’t know who was on the other end of the line, but she sensed Eileen was in trouble, and Marisa’s involvement was now clear.
Determined to help Eileen, Dolores steeled herself and said to Marisa, “I want to see a friend of mine. She can prove my innocence.”
Marisa spun around, her eyes narrowing as she scrutinized Dolores from head to toe.
Dolores’ nervousness caused her back to perspire, but her youthful appearance and innocent face made Marisa believe her. “Give me your friend’s phone number, and I’ll contact them for you,” Marisa said.

“I can’t remember her phone number. You’ll need to give me my phone,” Dolores said.
Hearing this, Marisa gave Dolores her phone back.
Dolores quickly provided Kinsey’s number. As Marisa stepped out to make the call on the landline, Dolores seized the opportunity to send a hasty voice message to Eileen.
She told Eileen the information about Marisa and the content of the phone call, then explained that she was suspected of child trafficking and had been taken to the police station. She asked Eileen to think of a way to help her.noveldrama
“Marisa?” Eileen’s voice trembled with shock as she listened to Dolores’ urgent voice message.
Given Marisa’s profession, Eileen knew that Marisa’s request to be left out of the matter hinted at something illegal, but what dealings of the Aston family didn’t skirt the law?
“I’ve already asked someone to investigate Marisa,” Bryan said. He hadn’t anticipated Dolores stumbling upon Marisa’s true nature by sheer chance.
Eileen asked, “Why do you think she is suspicious?”
Bryan shrugged, pointing out, “I’ll investigate anyone around you.” He was leaving no stone unturned, and Marisa’s sudden appearance, coupled with her significance in Eileen’s disappearance case before, made her a prime subject for scrutiny.
Eileen said, “Let’s focus on clearing Dolores’ name first. She has been wrongly accused of child trafficking.”
It was easy to imagine the chaos: Dolores fleeing in a panic with Emerson wailing in her arms, only to be mistaken for a child trafficker.
