Chapter 2034
Time flew, and flowers blossomed and wilted. In the blink of an eye, another year had passed. The wind was extremely cold, and winter came early.
Elijah could not help but close his tired eyes after getting off the plane when he got in the car. Hudson, who was sitting in the passenger seat, simply reported his work before withdrawing his gaze. He only habitually handed over a thermos and some lozenges when he heard a soft cough from behind him.
"Elijah?"
He withdrew his fist from his lips and waved his hand. "I'm fine!"
Hudson only slowly withdrew his hand when he saw him lift his hand and rub his tightly knitted brows. It appeared that he was extremely tired.
Since that incident, he became colder and colder, and he was always sick. Medical examination revealed nothing. He would cough from time to time but it was nothing too serious. He was harder to read and it was harder to guess what he was thinking. Especially during the meeting, his sudden cough would scare everyone out of their wits.
Hudson's lips moved a little but he did not say anything else.
At this moment, Elijah suddenly asked, "Is there any news from the hospital?"
Hudson turned his head back and shook his head. He sighed, "We have not given up on searching. However, this kind of thing really cannot be obtained with money or hard work. It all depends on luck!"
They had been lucky enough to find a suitable match when it was not surprising if there was no match in this world! He knew that he did not want to owe Kim Mi-chi a favor because of this, but it was not a matter of manpower or wealth.
After thinking for a while, Hudson comforted him and said, "Don't think too much. Mrs. Luther is alright now. Even the doctor said that as long as she is stable and fully recovered, it won't be easy for her sickness to come back again!"
Although she still required medicine, she no longer needed a kidney transplant.
As he spoke, they had already arrived at the entrance of the house. Without saying anything else, Elijah went to have dinner with his mother. When he entered the house, he saw that there were guests, a mother and a daughter, in the house. Without saying a word, he made Hudson stay.
During the meal, Elijah just ate quietly without saying anything. It was Hudson who had to smooth things over. After this meal, the guests were sensible enough to leave after thanking them. However, the younger lady seemed to be reluctant to leave and looked back several times.
After sending off the guests, Hudson stayed in the foyer. Mrs. Luther asked for tea and said, "Where are your basic etiquette? Mrs. Leinster-"
Before she could finish her sentence, Elijah suddenly stood up. She was so shocked that she almost forgot what she wanted to say.
Without the slightest bit of emotion, Elijah picked up his jacket. "I don't like Krystina!"
Krystina was the name of the young and beautiful girl just now.
After a pause, he looked at Mrs. Luther again and said, "Mom, don't drag your friends here anymore! I don't want to meet any woman now!"
Following that, Mrs. Luther's brows furrowed so tightly that they were about to fall. She reached out and grabbed him.
"Elijah, I've never asked about your private affairs, but the things is—are you happy? Look at you now. If I turn a blind eye again, are you going to make me watch as you wilt away?"
Elijah was about to say something, but this time, Mrs. Luther raised her hand.
"In that case, don't blame me for forcing this on you! You have two choices. One is to choose a person you like and bring her back, and the other is to choose someone and have a child with her. Otherwise, if anything happened to you, I cannot live with myself and this family legacy! I will give you a year. If you can't bring someone back, then I will arrange someone for you. Or you can bring a coffin for me next year! Get out of here!"
The madam of the Dragons Gang was not just for show. After she finished her sentence, she turned around and went straight upstairs. After so many years, for the first time in his life, he was chased out of his house by his mother.
While driving, Hudson did not even make a sound.
"Let's go over there! Cough, cough..."
A voice came from behind. The rearview mirror reflected a dispirited figure on the back seat. Pausing for a moment, Hudson quietly turned the steering wheel. On the side of the street opposite Misty's, the black car slowly stopped and he turned off the engine.
For more than a year now, he would come here every once in a while, but he had never gotten out of the car, nor had he encountered Carolien. However, he still came here often. Now, many people even knew that if they could not find him, and no one picked up the phone, he was probably here, especially when it was night time.
The car window had already rolled down. Hudson couldn't help but sigh in his heart when he saw that Elijah's eyes were half-closed, as if he was looking or lost in his thoughts, or maybe he was taking a nap.
After that incident, he could no longer face her! Since it was awkward between them, he never went in, but why did he still want to come? Hudson suddenly felt a little confused when he remembered that ever since they returned, Elijah never mentioned Carolien again.
What did he mean?
If they thought that he had forgotten her, he would come here often. Of course, this was something they found out later. If they thought that he had not forgotten, he never mentioned her again, let alone step into Misty's. Even the car was parked on the opposite side of the road and far away from Misty's door.
These thoughts flashed across Hudson's mind. He was a little puzzled. After a while, a soft voice suddenly sounded beside his ear, "Let's go!"
It was only when he moved that he realized that his entire body had stiffened. Hudson was just about to start the car when he felt as if a shadow was swaying past him. He turned his head. Amidst faint rustling sounds, he saw a couple of men and women at the opposite door walking out. After which, they fought and the two men were dragged away as they cursed. Two gorgeous blue and white figures stayed by the door. He could see that they were two slender women even from far away.
"Maaike?"
It was not the first time they had seen each other. Although there was a distance between them, Hudson could still see that one of the two women was Maaike!
Hudson stopped his actions until the two figures disappeared at the door. He glanced backwards from the corner of his eyes and clearly caught the deep disappointment in Elijah's eyes.
Sure enough, he wanted to see Carolien!
But since she came back, she seemed to have disappeared. They had waited at the door for seven days and seven nights, but they did not see her coming in and out of Misty's. Later, he went to inquire about her in private only did he know that she had been recuperating at home for a while before taking a trip. In short, she did not come to Misty's often.
They didn't know where she had gone, when she had come back, and what she was doing. Since Elijah didn't ask them to investigate, he didn't dare to broach the topic. She had become another taboo in his heart.
This year, Elijah changed a lot. He became truly cold and taciturn. He was cold towards anything, but his methods became more and more horrifying.
When the commotion at the entrance faded, Hudson quickly started the car, but he heard a cold voice from behind him. "Take care of it!"
Elijah closed his eyes after saying that. His handsome face was calm as though nothing had happened. Hudson trembled.
"Understood!"
After making a phone call, he quickly started the car.
This year, he had punished so many people who made trouble in Misty's. Were those people's ears covered with shit? How dare they come to make trouble! If they crossed him, it would not be as simple as a trip to the police station!
They were so unlucky!
Hudson muttered in his heart. He did not dare to say anything else.
...
At this time, in a different house
where lights shone, Carolien checked Alistair's homework and helped him pack his bags. As soon as she finished telling him a story, a cry came from the other side. She quickly turned around and ran out. First, she checked whether his nappy was wet, and then coaxed and fed him.
"Good boy. Did you sleep well? Mommy is here!"noveldrama
"He has a bad temper. He can't stand being hungry at all!"
"Carol, did my baby brother wake up? Then I won't sleep anymore. I want to play
with him for a while-"
"No! You have to get up early tomorrow!"
"I'll just play with him for a while. His eyes are open and he isn't asleep!" Maaike walked in with some midnight snacks in her hands. She saw that Carolien looked so flustered, with a baby in her arms and a toddler around her. Maaike put down her things and couldn't help laughing.
"I knew you can't rest once Madam Aleena left!"
"Did he say baby brother, what was that about?" The ranking was all messed up!
She laughed, but she reached out and pulled Alistair out of the big bed. "Alistair,
Miss Embich brought you toys and cake. Let's go quietly... Don't let others see
us!"
After taking Alistair to the room next door, Maaike coaxed him, read another two stories and tucked him to sleep.
By the time she returned to the master bedroom, it was already 20 minutes later. Seeing that Carolien had a baby in her arms and patting it gently, Maaike didn't make a sound and went to heat up supper. When she came back with the food, a fair and beautiful baby had already fallen asleep.
Carolien couldn't hide the tiredness on her face as she tucked the baby in. She
got out of bed and walked to a small table on one side. She smiled bitterly and
said,
"When Madam Aleena was not there, I have just so much to do."
Maaike glanced at the bed and handed her a bowl of porridge. "Do you regret it?"
She had tried to persuade her not to give birth to this child, but she couldn't bear
to abort it. She hesitated for a while, but in the end, she couldn't do anything about it.
Carolien pursed her lips and couldn't help looking back at the bed. Her baby was sleeping soundly. Yes, she had a child, and he was already beginning to babble at six-months old!
Her precious son was actually very obedient. From the moment he was born, he didn't cry much. When he was full, he would sleep. When was awake, he would play by himself. Now, she only need to wake him and
up once a night and fedyelmet
change his nappy. He was a very obedient and adorable baby!
He was that person's child!
She didn't know if fate decided to play a prank on her. It was not easy for her to
get pregnant but she found out that she was pregnant after she came back.
What do you think?
