Chapter 1757
Chapter 1757:
Elva and Tiffany were holding their breath, ears pressed against the wall, trying to catch any sound from outside.
The man in black turned around, revealing a pair of menacing eyes, and glared at Harlee.
“Who are you? Stay out of my way unless you’re looking for trouble!”
Harlee quirked an eyebrow, tightened her grip, and murmured, “Your outfit’s interesting… Which gang’s hitman are you? Who’s your target today?”
A flicker passed through the man’s eyes. His tone turned cold as he retorted, “And you?”
With a smirk, Harlee responded, “Cut from the same cloth.”
“Really?” The man scrutinized her, his gaze dripping with skepticism, and scoffed. “You call yourself an assassin? What do you have besides brute strength?”
Raising an eyebrow, Harlee asked, “Underestimating me?”
The man sidestepped, breaking free from Harlee’s grasp, and whispered harshly, “Fine, you’re an assassin. But what’s your weapon?”
Stretching her arms leisurely, Harlee replied coldly, “The best don’t need weapons.”
She found the man mildly entertaining, which was the only reason she hadn’t ended him already.
“Just…” Locking eyes with Harlee, the man bit back his initial remark. If she had recognized him so quickly, she had to be more than she appeared. He decided to probe further. With that thought, he demanded, “Start by telling me who you’re with.”
Without hesitation, Harlee answered, “Skyhawk.”
“Skyhawk?” Surprise widened the man’s eyes, and his tone softened significantly. “Ah, you’re with Skyhawk. No wonder you identified me so quickly. But, ma’am, what brings you here?”

Harlee replied slowly, “It seems we’re after the same thing.”
The man’s expression shifted to shock.
“Ma’am, you’re here for Elva as well?”
This confirmed the man’s target was Elva. Harlee barely lifted her eyelids, a smirk playing on her lips as she said, “Absolutely. The payout was too good to pass up.”
“Ma’am, did Skyhawk receive a higher bid? How else would they be able to afford someone with your level of skill?” Convinced by Harlee’s facade, the man…
He introduced himself, “I’m the thirty-first ranked assassin in the Underground Alliance. My name is Egan Hinks.”
Ranked thirty-first? Harlee inwardly scoffed. Elva’s enemies were really spending big. She casually acknowledged the statement and said, “Ranked thirty-first and still taking such contracts?”
He unknowingly revealed more. “It’s because Miss Pearce has deep pockets. She’s offering ten million.”
Miss Pearce… that name rang a bell. Ah, of course! Fleming’s eccentric admirer—rich, overbearing, and foolish. Elva had definitely kicked a hornet’s nest this time. Suppressing her emotions, Harlee asked, “Does ten million really get you a killer ranked thirty-first?”noveldrama
