Chapter 1618
Tyler's anger flared instantly when he heard what she said. He peeled her fingers off one by one, realizing he never should have felt sorry for Yvenne.
Back at the old Reynolds family mansion, if he hadn't seen Yvenne being mistreated, he wouldn't have agreed to the old man's requests. Besides, it was Fiona who had saved her from that pit. Now that Fiona was in a bind, how could he just stand by and do nothing?
"Enough, stop talking," he told Yvenne, his voice void of any sympathy. He looked away, indifferent. But when his eyes landed on Fiona, there was a sense of urgency. "Fiona, right now, the school is the only safe place."
"Safe?" Fiona chuckled lightly, a sarcastic edge to her voice as she glanced at the crowd. "You mean from these people?"
"Fiona, don't be so ungrateful!" Yvenne snapped, seething with anger.
Growing up in the Reynolds family, Yvenne had learned to read people well. Whatever remnants of affection Tyler had for her vanished completely.
Why did she have to endure this?noveldrama
All because of that troublesome Fiona.
"Fiona, if you hadn't stirred up trouble in the first place, none of this would be happening. You're nothing but a troublemaker!"
Fiona couldn't be bothered to argue and turned to leave, but Yvenne clung to her hand, refusing to let go. Even when Fiona tried to break free, Yvenne held tight, and with Tyler blocking her exit, an exasperated Fiona finally wrenched her arm away, causing Yvenne to stumble backward.
Tyler nearly lost his footing, almost taking a spill down the stairs himself.
The next second, screams filled the air, sharp and jarring to Fiona's ears.
At the bottom of the stairs, Yvenne lay there, her forehead bleeding, unconscious.
"She's been killed!"
"Fiona pushed her down the stairs!"
"Fiona killed Yvenne!"
Accusations flew as classmates rushed to help Yvenne, but she remained unresponsive, unconscious despite their efforts.
Fiona hurried down the stairs, intending to check Yvenne's pulse, but she was shoved aside, met with accusing glares.
"Fiona, what are you trying to do?"
"Yeah, you murderer, trying to cover up your crime?"
"Fiona, don't think you can get away. Someone's already gone to tell the principal. Get ready to face the music."
Fiona found them all a nuisance. Just as she was about to push past them to check Yvenne's pulse, a group of teachers arrived and blocked her.
Maybe they had never dealt with something like this before, and seeing Yvenne's
forehead wound covered in blood was particularly alarming.
With a flurry of hands, Yvenne was
carried to the nurse's office. Thankfully, the stairs weren't too high, and although Yvenne was unconscious, her injuries looked worse than they actually were. The teachers understood this, but the students didn't know the true state of Yvenne's condition.
In the office, Tyler explained what had happened, but to the teachers, Fiona was just a reckless troublemaker. Compared to the well-behaved, high-achieving
Yvenne, Fiona didn't stand a chance.
"Tyler told you to stay put at school. Since the news stories don't involve you, why get involved yourself? And now, you've hurt someone. Regardless, you need to be punished this time."
"It was self-defense," Fiona said coolly.
She had no desire to talk to these teachers. They just wanted her to admit guilt so
they could have a reason to expel her.
What do you think?
