Chapter 825 Discovering Ruby's Lie

Theodore came out of the study and saw Phoebe looking anxious. He raised an eyebrow, smelled the aroma of food, and casually walked into the dining room. Phoebe quickly followed and sat down across from him.

Theodore picked up a fork and started eating, ignoring her eager gaze, and said nonchalantly, "Edward went to the estate last night, posing as Madison's boyfriend." Phoebe was taken aback, but she had already guessed it when she saw Edward and Madison leaving the hotel early that morning, so it wasn't too surprising.

"So..."

Theodore looked up and carefully observed her expression. Apart from the initial surprise, she didn't seem to care.

"They're probably getting married. Stay away from Edward from now on," Theodore said flatly.

Phoebe's mind wasn't on this matter at all; she was thinking about what Lori had just said, that Noah and Claire had all their work halted for unknown reasons.

She suddenly remembered Theodore's earlier words about blacklisting, and she was filled with lawsuits. Since he couldn't get back at her, he started targeting the actors in her company.

How could Theodore do this?

"I went to call you for dinner earlier and heard you talking about blacklisting." Phoebe looked at him, not knowing how to continue.

Theodore squinted his eyes, "Just blacklisting a few disobedient ones."

Phoebe's face turned pale; it was obvious she was among the disobedient ones. She opened her mouth, "I know the triplets made you very unhappy, but that happened after our divorce, Theodore. You can't mix personal and professional matters."

Theodore lost his appetite completely because of her words. He said coldly, "Yes, I like mixing personal and professional matters. What, are you going to teach me how to do my job?"

"I wouldn't dare!" Phoebe bit her lip, "You eat, I'll leave first."

She stood up, took off her apron, and was about to leave the dining room. Theodore watched her back coldly. Knowing that asking would make him feel worse, he still couldn't hold back.

"Do you like him a lot?" If she didn't like him, why would she be willing to sleep with him and even have his children?

Phoebe paused, knowing who he was asking about. She didn't even know what the person looked like, let alone like him.

Just thinking about him blacklisting Claire and Noah made her angry. She lied, "Yes, I like him a lot, very much."

Theodore's face darkened, "I really want to know what kind of person he is that made you fall in love at first sight."

"You don't need to know," Phoebe said, then turned and left.

Just as she was changing her shoes at the door, she heard the sound of dishes breaking from the dining room. She stood at the door for a few seconds, then resolutely pushed the door open and walked out.

She hurried downstairs and called Guadalupe, asking her to pick her up at the main entrance of the Imperial Apartment. She needed to go back to the company.

Claire and Noah were key actors at Superstar Entertainment. If both of them were targeted, it would have a major impact on the company.

On the way, she called Stanley and Mary, but neither of them knew what had happened or had heard any rumors.

When she got back to the company, she called Noah and Claire. Both were very confused and said the director had told them to take a two-day break without giving a

reason.

Phoebe had no choice but to call the director herself, only to find out that there were safety hazards on set, and they were ordered to rectify them before resuming work.

Phoebe breathed a sigh of relief. When she returned to her office, Lori hurried in, "Ms. Ziegler, I hadn't finished speaking when you hung up. I just went to find out, and it's nothing serious. I sent you a message, did you see it?"

Phoebe first heard Theodore talking about blacklisting someone, then heard Lori say Noah and Claire's work was halted. She thought Theodore was targeting them and was anxious.

She had been making calls all the way and hadn't had time to check her messages. Now she finally felt relieved. She leaned back on the sofa and waved Lori off, "You can go home now. Let me be alone for a while."

Lori looked at her, still visibly shaken, and couldn't help but feel guilty. "I'm sorry, Ms. Ziegler. I didn't make myself clear and scare you."

"It's okay, go out."

Lori looked at her and silently turned to leave.

Phoebe had a headache. She closed her eyes and thought deeply. Theodore had immense power in Kedora. If he really wanted to do something, he wouldn't need to do it himself. Just a hint from him could make her life miserable.

Her career was insignificant in his eyes.

In the evening, Phoebe returned home. Evelyn was sitting on the sofa, looking very angry. Phoebe walked over.

Not seeing Harper outside, she could guess why Evelyn was angry.

She sat on the sofa. Hubert, Boris, and Noomi were watching cartoons. When they saw her return, they all climbed onto her lap, wanting to sit with her.

"Mom, when I came in, why didn't I see Mr. Ziegler outside?" Phoebe deliberately mentioned.

Evelyn glared at her indignantly, "How would I know?"

Phoebe wondered, "If he really doesn't come, you wouldn't be happy. Mom, why are you acting like a child?"

Evelyn rolled her eyes.

The living room was filled with the joyful sounds of cartoons. Phoebe looked at Ethan sitting alone on a small stool and asked, "Where's Ruby? She's been coming home late recently."

"Probably busy with work. She's a newcomer, so others must be bullying her and making her do more work," Evelyn said.

Phoebe remembered when she was an intern, she was also doing odd jobs, handling everything in the office.

"It's too late. I'll take Ethan to pick her up from work."

Hubert, Boris, and Noomi also wanted to go. Phoebe persuaded them to stay. She took Ethan out, and Louis drove them to the trade company Ruby had mentioned last time.

The trade company was in an industrial park in the west of the city. She had Louis drive in and stopped outsidethe trading company, just in time to see employees working overtime coming out.

Phoebe got out of the car, but Ruby was not among the group. She quickly stopped someone to ask and found out that there was no one named Ruby in their company. Phoebe showed Ruby's photo, but the person said they hadn't seen her and then left.

Standing in the night, Phoebe squinted her eyes. Ruby wasn't working here, so where was she going every day, leaving early and coming back late?
