Chapter 859 Just On The Way
Grace noticed the awkward atmosphere and nudged Taylor's shoulder. Taylor, being emotionally intelligent, quickly grabbed Evelyn's hand.
She said, "Evelyn, I didn't mean anything by it, I was just complimenting Phoebe for being able to have children."
The atmosphere grew even more awkward. To avoid further embarrassment from Taylor, Grace decided to get up and join the kids on the play mat.
Evelyn said, "Phoebe's pregnancy was an accident. We still haven't met the father of the children."
Taylor looked at the triplets thoughtfully, "They are quite adorable. Haven't you thought about finding their father?"
"Phoebe refuses. She says she can earn money to support them and doesn't need a man," Evelyn sighed.
Taylor always thought Phoebe was too independent, but such a strong-willed girl was especially endearing, particularly in the face of a male chauvinist like Theodore.
"Phoebe's is right. It's best to be self-sufficient, at least she won't be afraid of the biological father showing up and trying to take the children from her."
Evelyn smiled and didn't continue the topic.
The two quickly moved on to another topic. Taylor said, "Evelyn, have you heard about the Vanderbilt family?"
Evelyn was curious, "What about the Vanderbilt family?"
"You haven't heard?" Taylor paused, "The Vanderbilt Group is being investigated recently, apparently for tax evasion. The financial crime unit has moved into the company."
"Oh, I hadn't heard. You see, I'm busy buying groceries, cooking, and taking care of the kids every day, so I'm out of the loop. Is it serious?" Evelyn asked anxiously.
She had worked as a servant for the Vanderbilt family for over twenty years. It wasn't until Phoebe married Theodore that she quit the job. The Vanderbilt family was not just her old employer but also like family to her.
Taylor shook her head, "I'm not sure. As long as they pay the taxes, it shouldn't be a big problem, just a hit to their reputation."
"Oh, then I'm relieved."
Since moving to Caneda and knowing that Phoebe had given birth to kids, Evelyn had left all her high society nanny group chats. She was afraid she might accidentally reveal Phoebe's childbirth.
After returning to Kedora, she was busy taking care of the children and had no time to follow the happenings in Kedora's high society.
Taylor smiled and said, "Don't worry, Evelyn. The Vanderbilt family is strong. They won't go down easily."
Evelyn nodded.
Even so, Evelyn still called Delilah. When the call connected, Delilah's voice came through, "Mrs. Vanderbilt, what's wrong? You sound so down." Evelyn asked with
concern.
Delilah sighed, "Evelyn, it's been a long time since you called me. Have you become distant from me? I've been having a terrible time lately."
Hearing Delilah's low tone, Evelyn felt sad, "No, no, I've just been busy taking care of the kids."
"The triplets?" Delilah knew Phoebe had given birth to triplets, but she had never met them. Firstly, she felt uncomfortable seeing them, and secondly, she knew Phoebe wouldn't agree to be with Edward, so she had always taken a laissez-faire attitude.
"Yes, they're at a mischievous age."
Delilah said enviously, "I really envy you. Phoebe's career is thriving, and she gave you three grandchildren. Taking care of grandkids every day must be so joyful."
Evelyn heard her weak voice and said, "Why don't you come out for a walk? There's a big artificial lake outside our community, the air is good, and the scenery is beautiful."

"I'm too tired to move, I just feel so drained.. Evelyn, I miss your pizza, but I didn't want to bother you," Delilah said pitifully.
Evelyn felt a pang of sadness. She wiped her eyes and said, "I'll come over tomorrow and make it for you. Try to stay positive and take care of yourself."
After hanging up, Evelyn felt sad for a while before going to the kitchen to help with lunch.
Phoebe saw the message from Grace, and it was almost noon. She quickly called Grace, who was playing hide and seek with the kids.
The villa was large, and the kids were well hidden, making it a bit difficult for her to find them.
"Phoebe, I'm playing hide and seek with the kids right now," Grace said. "Are there any rooms in your house that we shouldn't enter? I don't want to intrude."
Phoebe could hear Hubert's stifled laughter. She said, "It's okay, there's no place you can't go."
Since the kids often played hide and seek at home, Phoebe rarely left important things out in the open, usually locking them in a safe.
Grace laughed, "Then I'm relieved. My mom and I are here, so don't worry. My mom really likes the triplets"
Phoebe remembered what Taylor had said last time, her eyes dimmed, "She didn't say anything, did she?"
"No, Phoebe, the triplets are so sweet. They call her 'grandma' so much that she's completely charmed. I think she might want to stay here today," Grace said. Phoebe finally felt at ease, "I'll be back soon."
"No need. You're busy with work, no need to make a special trip," Grace quickly said.
After a few more words, Phoebe heard Noomi impatiently calling Grace to find them. She hung up the phone, her lips curling into a smile.
Lori walked over and saw the radiant smile on her face, "Ms. Ziegler, did something good happen?"
Phoebe shook her head with a smile, "Give me the documents, I'll take them in."
Lori said, "I have something to report. Wesley has been on set for a while. Should we send someone to visit? Otherwise, the crew might think we're not paying attention to him."
Phoebe smiled and sat down, "I've been so busy lately, I almost forgot about him. How about this? I'll fly to Suncrest City this weekend."
Considering Hank's movie, it wouldn't be appropriate to just send anyone.
"Book me a ticket, leaving Saturday and returning Sunday. The timing should work."
"Okay, do you need me to go with you?" Lori asked. She was a big fan of the male lead
in Ice and Fire and was excited at the thought of getting an autograph.
Phoebe sighed, "You can come with me. Make sure everything is arranged in advance so we don't end up scrambling."
"Don't worry, I'll handle it!"
After work, Phoebe walked out of the building and immediately saw the black Maybach parked at the entrance. She walked over, and the door opened from the inside.
She bent down and got in, saying to the handsome Theodore in the back seat, "You didn't have to come pick me up. Guadalupe could have driven me home."
"It wasn't a special trip, just on the way," Theodore said expressionlessly.
As the car drove off, Phoebe finally found a topic, "By the way, did you know that your
mom went to Lakeview Estates to see the kids today?"
What do you think?
