His Destructive, Toxic Love

Chapter 739

"Mr. Casper was convinced you were gone. He stopped eating and drinking, and I swear, he hasn't stopped crying, no matter who tried to comfort him."

Eliza's heart ached at the thought.noveldrama

Knowing she had been in an accident must have torn Casper apart. It's unbearable to think that in just one day, you could be separated from the person you love most in the world.

"I need to see him."

When Eliza pushed open the door to Casper's room, she found him in the same spot as always, sitting by the window, staring out at the pouring rain, lost in his thoughts. His legs were crossed, hands resting on them naturally, but there was an indescribable sadness about him.

"Casper," she called softly.

He didn't respond, as if he hadn't heard her at all. This made Eliza's heart sink

even more.

She slowly walked up behind him, gently placing her hand on his shoulder. "Casper."

He seemed to sense something then. A faint smile crossed his face, and he slowly closed his eyes. She noticed tears streaming from the corners of his eyes.

"Please, don't be sad," she whispered, reaching out to wipe the tears from his face, but he caught her hand in his.

"Is it true that when you miss someone so much, you start seeing things? If that's the case, I'd rather live in this illusion forever..." He pressed his face into her hand, feeling its warmth. "...at least this way, I can pretend you're still here, and I can keep going."

"Elle, we haven't even had our wedding yet. How could you leave me like this? I haven't done all the things I wanted to do for you. How am I supposed to live the rest of my life? How could you leave me behind like that?"

He broke down, sobbing. His tears fell onto the back of her hand, hot and cold at the same time, and it made her heart ache even more.

The hardest thing is being torn apart by death.

She felt his pain, wrapping her arms. around his neck, pressing her cheek to his Casper, we won't have any regrets. I promised I'd stay with you until we're old, and I meant it."

"But you broke your promise," he said, his voice filled with anguish, his shoulders trembling. "You said you'd stay but you didn't. You left me. I'll blame you for the rest of my life."

Eliza couldn't find the words to express how she felt inside. It was just a deep, unbearable sadness.

She wanted to wake him from this nightmare, gently wiping the tears from his cheeks with her fingers. "Casper, I'm not dead. Open your eyes and see me, please?"

She moved in front of him, lifting his tear-streaked face, and kissed him softly. "Casper, don't be sad. I'm still here. I haven't left you. Just look at me."

He squeezed his eyes shut even tighter. He was terrified. Terrified that if he opened them, Eliza would vanish.

He shook his head, clutching her tightly. "Elle, don't go. Stay with me a little longer, please don't leave."

"Casper." Was he trapped in a nightmare, or just drowning in grief? "I'm not going anywhere. Open your eyes and see for yourself. I'm okay, I wasn't in that van; I'm still alive."

Hearing about the van, a flicker of clarity returned to Casper. Slowly, he opened his eyes a crack, and when he saw her standing there, he fully awakened from his haze.

"You're... still alive? Are you really here?" He touched her face, feeling its warmth; he looked into her eyes, seeing them blink; he hugged her fiercely. "You're really not gone? You didn't lie to me."

"I was at the service station when they left without me..." It ended up saving her

life.

The shock of it all was overwhelming. Casper couldn't bear to let Eliza go again.
