His Innocent Sera

Wedding Bells

How earnestly she hoped for all this to be a nightmare.

But it was no nightmare. It was her reality. Her rotten fate. She willed for the time to halt, but it marched on, apathetic to her sufferings. Strolling over, she picked up the gown with reluctance and put it on. After donning the dress, she stood before the mirror. Dull blue eyes stared back, hollow and shadowed by misery. Though happiness remained a stranger to her, pain had long found a home in her. She reckoned this feeling of helplessness was going to be her constant companion from now on. Her gaze flickered to her stomach, beneath which a life was taking root. She couldn't feel the baby yet, but its presence pressed heavily on her.

A few hours until she'd lose herself completely to his whim.noveldrama

The realisation was unsettling. Chilling. Every night, she'll have to endure his animalistic hunger, every day she'll have to follow him like a slave. This marriage will bind her to him forever with no escape, no mercy. Only the slow decay of self beneath his touch.

The severity of the situation finally hit her in all its intensity.

"No..no.." she murmured, tears spilling over her cheeks. She sat down, shaking uncontrollably.

Nate stood at the altar, ready and without a doubt. The church was silent, empty save for the faint rustling of pages as the priest flipped through them. The sun spilled through the stained glass and bathed the benches in its golden light.

As he stood on the threshold of a new beginning, he missed his family, especially his mom. Everything would have meant more with her by his side. Whereas his dad was his inspiration, his mom was his place of peace. He missed both of them deeply. And no matter how much he hated Gigi, he missed her too. He missed Angela, Hannah, Shaun, and the triplets. He wished they were here, sharing this special moment with him and Sera.

The help came back without Sera. She looked nervous.

"She says she won't marry," the woman disclosed, nervously fidgeting with her fingers. Nate's jaw set hard in irritation. She knew they were going to marry anyway, but still, she had to push his buttons. Climbing down the stairs, he marched down the hallway to the room.

He unlocked the door and stepped inside, his huge frame filling the doorway. Her head shot up, eyes meeting his. Nate exhaled a sigh upon noticing the traces of tears clinging to her lashes. She was acting as if she had been given a death sentence. He approached her.

"I don't want this," she sniffed, her voice weak but certainty unmistakable.

Nate extended his hand and said, "We are getting late."

Sera shook her head; his dismissal only worsened her anxiety.

"I don't want to marry you," she reiterated, each syllable carrying a mix of frustration and desperation. Her bloodshot eyes didn't waver from his, allowing him to see the depth of her unwillingness to be his.

"And we are getting married," he stressed in response, his voice leaving no room for doubt. Seizing her hand, he yanked her to her feet before dragging her toward the door.

She resisted his force. "Leave my hand. I hate you," she protested, but he didn't stop. The girl struggled vehemently but to no avail.

The more she despised him, the stronger his determination to make her his grew. She could loathe him all she wanted, but in the end, she would wear only his ring, and his mouth would be the one claiming hers at the altar. She was his.

He was about to step out when a sharp blow landed against the back of his head, making him stop dead His head spun. Confused, he turned only to be struck again, this time across the side of his head. Sera wrenched her hand free from his grip and backed away, firmly clenching the candle stand. Nate stared at her in disbelief.

"I won't marry you," she asserted in a trembling whisper, her eyes frantic. His features hardened.

Despite the pain crushing his head, Nate stepped forward to grab her, but she dodged him.

Her eyes darted towards the open door, and Nate caught it. His breathing hitched. Without thinking twice, Sera ran towards the door, but he caught her mid-stride by her waist. Forcefully pulling her against his chest, he murmured possessively, "You're not leaving me."

Sera fought his Iron-like embrace, bit into his arm, but he held on stubbornly. He had grown deeply attached to her in these past weeks, so much that the mere thought of leaving without her was unbearable.

To break free, she reached behind and struck him again. This time, the edge of the stand split his cheek

staining his features, yet he didn't let up. They both were desperate. She was desperate to flee, and he was desperate to stop her.

Clinging to her, he tried to drag her away from the door. The blows had been fierce, solid, causing darkness to creep into the edges of his eyes, threatening to swallow his vision whole. She sensed his strength falter, his body had slowly started to succumb to the inflictions.

"Stay," he implored against her neck, his voice weak as his strength drained him. She jabbed her elbow hard into his stomach, causing him to stagger backward. The girl, without so much as looking his way, marched fast towards the door. Gritting his teeth, Nate battled the blackness clouding his vision and lunged forward, catching her arm in a desperate grip.
