His Unveiled Passion

Chapter 496

The woman made the emergency call, and the police arrived shortly afterward.

After hearing both sides of the story, the officer said to the family, "This is a civil dispute over liability and damages. It's not within our jurisdiction. If you want compensation, you'll need to go through the proper legal channels and file a lawsuit."

Realizing that they weren't getting any money and that calling the police hadn't helped, the woman turned to Tessa and threatened, "If you don't pay, we'll sue you in court!"

"Go ahead. But before you do, I have something to report as well," Tessa replied with a smile.

She pulled out her phone and opened a recording. "Officer, I'd like to report a crime. They're attempting extortion. That's under your jurisdiction, isn't it?"

"It is," the officer confirmed this fact and took her phone to listen to the recording. The audio clearly captured the family demanding three million in compensation.

"I also have video evidence. Show the officer what you recorded," Tessa added as she turned to Wynn.

Wynn opened the video on her phone. It showed Tessa stepping out of her car to check on the elderly man, beginning from the moment she got out and continuing until they arrived at the hospital.

It even included the doctor's diagnosis that the man had suffered a sudden cerebral hemorrhage.

"I have proof that I simply helped bring the man to the hospital," Tessa said calmly. "I didn't push him, as they claim. They demanded three million in compensation, but I never knocked him over. And even if I had, three million is an outrageous amount. This is blatant extortion."

In the end, the police took all parties to the station to record official statements.

Given the solid evidence, the police opened a case against the family for extortion.

...

At dinnertime, around 6:30 pm, Tessa received a message from Stephen on WhatsApp. He told her he had just finished his meetings.

He then went on to explain in detail everything he had done at the summit that day. At the end of the message, he added one simple line that read, "I miss you."

The moment she read those words, Tessa's lips curved into a smile, and her expression softened. Just those three words were enough to sweep away the frustration and anger from her exhausting day.

She replied, "I miss you too."

Almost instantly, a video call came through.

His handsome face appeared on the screen, eyes warm and affectionate. There was a quiet tenderness in his gaze as he asked, "Tess, have you eaten?"

"I just did. What about you?"

"I just finished my meetings and am about to head out for dinner."

"Alright. I missed you a lot today." Tessa smiled at the camera.

"I missed you too."

She started telling him about what had happened earlier.

"You won't believe it. I was heading back to the firm after court, and someone triednoveldrama

to fake an accident in front of my car."

"What happened?"

"Well, it started when..."

Just then, a woman's voice interrupted them from Stephen's end of the call.

"Mr. Jacobson, the restaurant is ready for us. Everyone's waiting for you."

The voice sounded familiar. Tessa paused. She didn't finish what she was about to say and instead offered a polite smile.

"Go ahead and eat. We'll talk more tonight."

"Alright. I still have a bit more to deal with after dinner, but I'll call you at around 10:00 pm."

"Okay."

After ending the call, Tessa tried to recall the voice she'd just heard. sounded like the woman they had run into at the restaurant not long ago, Hazel-the one who had shown obvious hostility toward her.

As the name crossed her mind, Tessa's expression darkened.

At 10:00 pm sharp, Tessa picked up her phone-but Stephen hadn't called. There were no new messages from him either.

Their chat history still ended with the message from dinner. "I miss you too," it read.

Tessa had just finished drying her hair and was wearing a white lace nightdress. She sat on the couch, eyes fixed on her phone with a shadowed gaze.

Ten minutes later, she went to her contacts and dialed Stephen's number. It didn't connect right away. The @ngtone played for a white before the call was finally answered.

"You're done with work?" she asked.

"This is Ms. Yates, correct?" came a woman's voice.

Tessa's lips pressed into a thin line, and her brow furrowed slightly. That voice was unmistakable. She had heard it earlier. It was definitely Hazel.

"Why do you have his phone? Where is Stephen? Put him on." Tessa grew cold.

Hazel chuckled and said lazily, "Ms. Yates, Mr. Jacobson can't talk to you right now. He's in the shower."

Before Tessa could respond, the call ended.

A rush of burning rage surged through her, leaving her trembling. Her fingers trembled around the phone.

She had already warned Stephen that Hazel had shown hostility toward her. And yet he brought her along on this trip? Without telling her?

She tried to reason with herself. Perhaps the staffing decisions at Jacobson Corporation didn't require personal updates to the CEO himself.

Maybe Stephen hadn't meant anything by it. But how could Hazel answer his phone? And why speak in that tone?

At that moment, Tessa could no longer control her emotions. Even though she trusted Stephen deeply, believed he would never do anything behind her back to hurt her, she still could not accept what had just happened.

It wasn't just about betrayal. It was

the humiliation she felt. The

mockery in Hazel's tone. The

complete disregard.

Misunderstanding or not, Tessa

could not accept it.

She redialed immediately. The call was declined.

She called again. This time, it said the line was busy. Had he blocked her?

Fighting the fury building inside, she switched to WhatsApp and placed a video call. To her surprise, it went through.

Before she could say anything, she heard a man's ragged breathing. The sound

hit her like a lightning bolt. Her mind went blank.

She knew that voice all too well. It was the sound of Stephen in the midst of

desire.

Tessa's face went pale in an instant. It felt as if all the blood in her body had rushed straight to her head.

Then came the woman's voice, gasping and whimpering.

"Mm... Mr. Jacobson, be gentle... It hurts... Ah, slower..."

It was Hazel. Soft and coquettish.

Tessa couldn't bear another second. Her trembling fingers quickly ended the call.
