Chapter 1019: Attacking the Heart
Warren chuckled. "I was wondering when you'd ask."
Tina frowned. "What happened to Poppy?"
Seeing her concern, Warren waved his hand dismissively. "He's fine. Your parents were worried about the lingering influence of the Swanson family, so they enrolled him in a new boarding school-a prestigious one."
Tina was surprised. "He agreed to it?"
Warren nodded, his tone filled with admiration. "That kid may only be five, but he understands everything. He knows what's been going on in the family, so when it came time to switch schools, he didn't hesitate."
Tina pressed her lips together and responded softly.
The Swanson family was no longer a threat in the capital, and a change of environment would only benefit Poppy.
Besides, Poppy was introduced to the new school under the Warren family's name. Even if the other parents knew the truth, they wouldn't dare mention a single word in front of their children.
Tina held the letter in her hand and left.
Before leaving, she reassured Warren. "Don't worry about Brandon. Uncle will handle it. He won't bother you again."
Warren smiled faintly, but deep down, he felt a sense of relief.
The Brookes family was Alina's side of the family, and also his in-laws. No matter how much trouble they caused, he couldn't just kick them out.
Jared entered the house shortly after Tina.
Tina shared the news about her parents with him, but Jared pulled her into the room before she could finish. "I've already handled Brandon. Your parents don't need to come back just to deal with him."
Tina froze. "Uncle, how did you convince Brandon?"
She knew Brandon's personality well.
As her mother's most similar sibling, he wouldn't give in so easily. If he were that simple to persuade, the Warren family wouldn't have been forced to keep their doors shut during the daytime because of his antics.
Unless Uncle had offered him something tempting enough.
But for Brandon, even the greatest benefit wouldn't outweigh a single favor from Angela.
What exactly had Uncle done?
Jared took off his coat, disinfected his hands, and then sat on the sofa with Tina in his arms. His voice was calm as he said, "It was simple-I addressed the root of the problem."
"The root?"
Tina's eyes narrowed, and she instantly guessed his plan. "Don't tell me you convinced Angela?"
Jared didn't confirm or deny it. Instead, he adjusted Tina's position so she would sit more comfortably and continued along her train of thought. "Everyone has their weaknesses. You know what Angela values most, don't you?"
Tina fell silent.
Angela's greatest concern was always her mother's feelings. As long as her mother was happy, Angela would be content.
Attacking the heart.
Uncle had played this card perfectly.
But for Angela to compromise meant swallowing her pride.
"That's not fair to Angela," Tina said softly.
Angela's love for her mother was incomparable, especially when it came to important matters like this.
Jared was surely aware of this.
He nodded in agreement, gently rubbing Tina's still-flat abdomen as he spoke in a soothing tone. "That's why I had Brandon move the engagement ceremony abroad. I scheduled it for the day your parents have a layover in Europe. This way, everyone can attend, and you won't have to run back and forth."
Tina was speechless.
What else could she say?
When Uncle stepped in, there was nothing left to worry about.
No wonder Brandon had been absent all day-it turned out he had been busy settling things.
As the person in her arms momentarily lost focus, Jared grabbed a snack from the
table and held it to her lips. "Tina, what were you about to tell me?"
Tina blinked, and a sour plum was suddenly in her mouth.

The tangy flavor spread across her palate, and she didn't reject it. She ate another one from Uncle's hand and quickly summarized the information she had gotten from Warren.
Seeing that Tina liked the snack, Jared kept the bag of sour plums nearby so she could grab them easily.
"Tina suspects there's something hidden within the Swanson family," Jared remarked. Tina nodded as she continued eating. "Yes. Orion Woodwind's survival up to now isn't normal. If he isn't involved in some unspeakable deal with Claudia, then he must be hiding something for her."noveldrama
Jared agreed. "We'll investigate tomorrow."
Tina, resting against him, turned her head to look. "Isn't the company busy?"
Jared chuckled, poking her nose gently. "If everything requires my personal attention,
it just means the leader is incompetent."
After all, the people he trained weren't just there to take up space.
Tina raised an eyebrow. "You still have me."
Jared smiled. "How could I forget? The group also has Tina's shares. How about this- once we wrap this up, let's retire and run the company together."
Tina's gaze fell on the hand resting on her abdomen. With a playful arch of her brow, she said, "Retiring sounds good, but aren't you afraid our ideas might clash if we work together?"
Jared affectionately rubbed her stomach. "Our ideas won't conflict. Remember, what's mine is yours."
Tina smiled, her eyes sparkling with warmth.
The companies under her name were managed by Cole Lyon, but she was well aware of the bank deposits.
Not only her own profits, but nearly 90% of Uncle's income was also deposited into her account.
Every day, the bank transactions alone started in the seven figures.
Uncle truly gave her everything without reservation.
That night, Tina listened to Jayden's report and forwarded the received information to
her mentor.
The unidentified body still hadn't been claimed.

For now, the ashes were stored at the funeral home.
The news about Jade Armour caused only a brief ripple within the hidden family circles
before quickly dying down.
There was still no trace of Claudia.
The next morning, Jared received fresh ingredients delivered by his mother. He prepared a simple breakfast and, after removing his apron, went to the bedroom.
On the bed, Tina was still sound asleep. As he approached, her finely tuned instincts reacted faster than her mind.
But it was only for a moment. She frowned and turned over. "Uncle, let me sleep a bit longer."
Her appetite had been poor these past few days, but her sleep quality had been excellent-better than ever before.
It was as if she was making up for years of lost sleep all at once.
Jared couldn't bring himself to wake her. He gently reminded her, "You can sleep for another half hour, but after that, the strawberry cake won't taste as good."
The mention of strawberry cake sparked a moment of clarity in Tina's groggy mind.
She squinted at Jared's retreating figure. "You're not lying, are you?"
Since the first time Uncle made her a cake to get her to take medicine, he had strictly controlled her snack intake.
Even the stash she had hidden in the living room cabinet had been confiscated.
All that remained were the "snacks" Uncle personally selected-no additives, no harm to
her body.
And almost no flavor.
Except for the sour dried apricots, which were barely edible.
Everything else was so unappetizing that she often wondered why these snacks even existed.
Turning her head to look at Tina, who only had her head poking out of the blanket, Jared chuckled, feeling both amused and a little heartbroken. "Mom brought some ingredients, including fresh strawberries and cream. If I don't make it today, it'll spoil by tomorrow."
Tina smirked. Having a mother-in-law certainly had its perks.
Early in the morning, she finished half a cake. Looking at the bowl of medicine in front
of her, Tina narrowed her eyes slightly. "Uncle, how many days have I been taking this medicine?"
What do you think?
