Dominic let out a cheerful "Aye," glancing at Charmaine through the rearview mirror with a kind smile. "Ms. Nelson, why don't you sit with us later?"

"Sounds good! Thank you, Mr. Wheeler."

"No need to thank me! It's my pleasure to look after Ms. Nelson."

Celeste waved him off. "Alright, alright, just drive already. If we're any later, we'll be stuck in the back rows."

Dominic grinned and started the car.

The entire ride, Celeste chattered nonstop, already imagining how many people would be shocked when Charmaine, the top student, walked up on stage.

Charmaine listened quietly, occasionally responding.

Just then, Emyr sent a message, "On your way to school? Why didn't you have Alfred go with you?"

Charmaine replied, "No need, it's just a simple drawing lots."

Emyr reacted, "Sounds like you're not too excited about your internship placement?"

Charmaine continued, "No matter where I go, I'm just another overworked employee."

Still, if she had to choose, she preferred Ydris Group.

Rex had been running the company all this time, while she, one of the original founders, had barely lifted a finger. The thought of how much effort he had put in made her feel a little guilty.

Holding the phone to her ear, she heard his deep laugh before his voice followed, "A job where you get to see me all the time. Not happy?"

Charmaine instantly set her phone down, her face burning with heat. She was so flustered she didn't even dare glance in Celeste's direction.

Thankfully, Celeste was too engrossed in her phone to notice anything.

In the school auditorium, students and parents were seated according to their departments.

By the time Dominic led Charmaine and Celeste inside, most of the front seats were already taken, leaving just one empty row.

Celeste led them over, but before they could sit down, a female voice spoke from behind, "Sorry, but I asked my friends to save these seats."

Charmaine turned to see Olympia, elegantly dressed, standing there with her arm linked with Leah's.

Celeste put on a fake smile. “What is this, a high-speed train or a plane? Did you pay for these seats? Ever heard of first come, first served?"

Leah's face stiffened at Celeste's remark. She bit her lip, shrinking back beside Olympia, playing the helpless, delicate flower to perfection.

Olympia barely spared Celeste a glance before letting her gaze settle on Charmaine, who remained expressionless.

"I heard you messed up your exams this time. Well, I suppose you couldn't get lucky every time."

She spoke as if she were ordering around a bunch of nobodies, giving out commands like it was second

"Leah is ranked second in her grade. The top ten will be going up on stage for the official selection with the principal. Those who didn't do well should take a seat in the back."

Her entitled attitude was so ridiculous that Charmaine almost laughed.

Without saying a word, Charmaine plopped down into the seat under Olympia's glare. She crossed her legs, rested her chin on her hand, and lounged back lazily. "Second place, huh? Then you should go sit near the principal. It's closer to the stage."

"You!"

Leah met Charmaine's eyes for a brief second before quickly looking away, guilt flickering across her face.

She gently tugged on Olympia's arm, speaking in a soft voice, "Mom, it's fine if we sit in the back. I have to go on stage anyway, so it doesn't really matter. And Zayn's coming later. It'll be easier to meet him if we sit there."

Olympia was furious at Charmaine's defiance, unable to comprehend how someone could be so disrespectful toward her.

But the moment she turned to Leah-gentle and thoughtful as always-her expression softened, brimming with motherly affection. "You always think ahead so well."

Leah playfully stuck out her tongue. "Zayn took time out of his busy schedule to come. Of course, I have to take good care of him."

"Alright, we'll do as you say."
