“You!” Melany snapped, but she quickly forced herself to control her emotions.

“Don’t worry. Colton only brought me out for a walk because he was worried about my mood. Always staying home isn’t good for me. The Stevens family places great importance on this child.” She deliberately emphasized her connection to Colton.

Allison remained unfazed.

“If they value you so much, why did they let you be alone now? Aren’t they afraid of you having an accident at this time?”

Her words landed like a slap, and Melany’s face turned even paler.

After entering the banquet hall, Colton had been drinking and not paying much attention to her. While his indifference gave her the freedom to move as she pleased, it also left her humiliated in front of others.

Despite her frustration, she couldn’t leave the event.

“I know you’re here for that big project.” Melany took a deep breath, forcing herself to stay composed.

She had already bribed a few waiters to sabotage the gifts Allison had prepared. But if Allison decided to check on them suddenly, the entire plan could unravel.

Melany instinctively stepped back, her earlier bravado crumbling.

“I’m w-warning you. Don’t come any closer!”

“With all these people around, you wouldn’t dare make a scene here,” Melany said.

She gulped nervously.

She tried to appear calm, but her fear of Allison was undeniable. Her hands trembled despite her efforts to steady them. She couldn’t figure out what had happened to Allison.

After divorcing Colton, Allison had completely changed. She used to be mild and meek, but now she had become dangerously aggressive.

How could Kellan possibly be drawn to a woman like that?

“I only came to tell you to stop giving Colton false hope. Keep your distance from him. Now, I’m his wife, and I’m pregnant with his child. That’s what I want you to know. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going,” Melany said flatly.

Her gaze shifted to the ruckus unfolding nearby.
