Chapter 649
Cameron's gaze toward Bradley grew colder by the second.
"So, Bradley," she said, her voice even icier than her stare, "you set a trap for me from the very beginning. You played me, and I actually trusted you "Cam, you were the one who turned me down so heartlessly. That's why I had to take such desperate measures," Bradley replied with a smile.
Cameron let out a cold laugh. "So, this is all my fault?"
Bradley was still smiling, but there was no warmth in his eyes. "Of course, it's your fault for rejecting me. And mistakes like that always come with a price, don't they?"
'Seriously?' Cameron thought, at a loss for words. Her face went completely blank. She couldn't even be bothered to waste another word or Bradley.
Without hesitation, she snapped a branch off a nearby tree and hurled it straight
at the gate.
The moment the branch struck the gate, blue sparks crackled and danced, filling the air with a sharp sizzle. In seconds, the branch dropped to the ground, burned to a crisp, and blackened beyond recognition. The whole thing was over in a flash.
Cameron froze.
Bradley caught every bit of Cameron's little test, his eyes never missing a thing. He said, "Cam, you shouldn't doubt me. I've never lied to you."
"That was in the past," Cameron scoffed. "Are you really still someone I can trust now?"
Bradley didn't hesitate. "Of course I am."
Cameron let out a mocking, icy laugh. She tightened her down jacket around herself, turned, and without even glancing at Bradley, strode right past him into the hall.
'Sometimes, you just have to know when to pick your battles,' she thought to herself. 'It's freezing out here. Might as well head inside and warm up!'
Bradley watched her retreating, angry figure, a small smile tugging at his lips. As long as she stayed, that was all that mattered.
Once inside, Cameron headed straight upstairs to the room she'd stayed in before. Just as she was about to close the door, a hand suddenly stopped it.
"I'm tired. I need to sleep," Cameron said, her face blank as she stared at Bradley, who had followed her up.
Bradley's lips curled into a smile as he looked at her. "Alright, Cam. Goodnight.” With that, he let go of the door.
Bang. Her only response was the slam of the door.
Cameron pressed her ear to the door, listening for any sounds outside.
"Cam, you say I've changed, but aren't you different too?" Bradley's low voice drifted through the door. She caught Bradley's quiet murmur from the hallway. Her brow furrowed.
There was a time when she was truly grateful to Bradley. He really had helped her a lot back then. Of course, she'd always treated him well. But things were different now.
There was no way she could ever show Bradley a kind face again.
Bradley was even more of a handful than Xander or Austin ever were.
Cameron lifted her gaze, taking in the room. The place looked almost exactly the same as before.
The only difference was the bedsheets-they'd been swapped out for pure white ones, embroidered with delicate lace.
She made her way to the bathroom, where she found shelves lined with all kinds of top-brand skincare products and toiletries-every single one for women. There was literally everything you could think of.
Cameron's brow furrowed. Bradley really had this all planned out from the start. Otherwise, there was no way he could've had everything ready like this. A
She stared at herself in the mirror, her brows knitting even tighter. It was obvious now-there was no way she and Bradley could even be friends. And as for being a couple? Not a chance.
She'd already turned him down flat. But Bradley still forced her to stay here. She absolutely hated this kind of behavior.
Now, there was even less of a chance for them-being together was completely out of the question.
Since she'd decided to stay, Cameron figured she might as well wash up and get some rest.
Bradley wasn't the man she used to know anymore.
Cameron gave the bathroom a thorough once-over, checking every corner for hidden cameras. Luckily, she didn't find any.
At that moment, Bradley was sitting on the sofa in his room, watching a live feed
from the camera in Cameron's room on his phone.
The camera was aimed directly at the bed.noveldrama
Of course, he hadn't installed any cameras in the bathroom-he wasn't that twisted.
If he wanted to see her, he'd do it in person.
Right now, Cameron was in the bathroom, so the only thing on the screen was the bed.
Bradley had picked out the bedding himself. He figured Cameron would probably like it.
Bradley's lips curled into a smile as he stared at the screen, not looking away for a second.
Before long, Cameron came out of the bathroom.
She slipped into the same men's pajamas she'd always worn here, even though
she noticed the white women's pajamas Bradley had specially set out for
her.
Cameron turned off the lights, climbed into bed, and pulled the covers up over herself.
She thought she wouldn't be able to fall asleep. But to her surprise, she drifted off almost immediately.
Cameron slept in a perfectly proper position, neat and composed. She barely moved a muscle. The feed was almost completely still. But Bradley still
watched with great interest.
'Cam is so close,' he thought, even if it was just the next room over. He couldn't help but feel content.
Meanwhile, at Steerfall International Airport, Gwer looked at Xander, her eyes brimming with tears. "Xander, do you really have to go?
In just a few days, Xander had lost so much weight that he looked like a completely different person. The sunshine that used to light up his handsome face was gone-now, he just looked defeated.
Gwen's heart broke for him, and Logan's brow was furrowed with worry.
Xander's eyes were deep and heavy as he/said, "Mom, Dad, you should go back. Take care of yourselves." His voice was low and full of sorrow,
As soon as Gwen heard his words, she couldn't hold back her sobs anymore.
Logan wrapped his arm around her shoulders and said, "Xander, you're alone out there, so take care of yourself, okay?"
Logan's heart ached for his son, too. But maybe it was for the best-Xander could use some time abroad to toughen up.
Xander just wasn't strong enough these days. It was just a breakup, and he was totally falling apart.

Only by growing stronger could Xander take on the that were his to bear.
Xander nodded, pushed his suitcase along, and walked straight through the gate without looking back. He didn't want to stay here for even a second longer.
As for when he'd be back, maybe a few months, maybe years from now. He didn't know.
Logan and Gwen stood there, watching as he disappeared from sight.
No matter how hard it was to let him go, they still respected Xander's choice.
Bradley was really into watching the surveillance feed when a message from Elijah popped up on his phone.
He frowned, but in the end, he exited the feed and opened his chat with Elijah. But as soon as he saw Elijah's message, his face darkened.
Elijah: [Brad, Cameron said she was meeting you for dinner tonight. I just tried texting her, but she didn't reply. I called, and it went straight to voicemail. Are you two together? Is she okay?]
Bradley: [Elijah, you sure seem awfully concerned about Cam.]
Elijah: [Brad, is Cameron with you or not?]
Bradley: [No.]
'Of course not,' Bradley thought to himself. 'She's downstairs and I'm up here-just
being under the same roof doesn't mean we're together, does it?'
Elijah: [You haven't seen Cameron at all tonight?]
Bradley: [We did have dinner together.]
Elijah: (So she's okay, right?]
Bradley: [Elijah, why didn't you tell me when you found out Cameron was a girl?]
Elijah: [Huh? Didn't you already know? Cameron said she told you. I was the last one to find out.]
Bradley was speechless. If he'd actually paid attention to what Cameron said back then, he wouldn't have ended up being the last t
If he'd actually paid attention to what Cameron said back then, he wouldn't have ended up being the last to know.
Elijah: [Brad, stop changing the subject. Is Cameron okay? I can't get in touch with her
Bradley stared at Elijah's message, and he could practically see how anxious Elijah was while sending it.
Elijah was always the cool, distant type.
A faint, almost imperceptible smile played at Bradley's lips as he typed: [Elijah,
you seem awfully concerned about Cam. Don't tell me you actually like her?]
Elijah had always been straightforward. Since Bradley asked, he answered honestly without hesitation. [Yeah, Brad. I'm pursuing her.
Bradley's eyes narrowed dangerously.
'Elijah likes Cam?' Bradley thought, a chill running through him. 'Is he planning to compete with me for her?"
Bradley let out a cold, mocking chuckle. 'No one is going to keep me from being
with Cam. Not my parents. Not my family. Not even Cameron herself. Let alone Elijah,' he wondered.
Bradley: [Elijah, you're not allowed to go after Cam.]
Elijah was baffled. [Why?]
Bradley: [Because I'm pursuing her.]
When Elijah saw that message, he was so stunned he literally jumped up from the
couch.
‘Brad?' Elijah blinked in disbelief. 'Brad likes Cameron, too?"
Elijah always knew Cameron had that kind of charm-no wonder people fell for
her. 'But seriously, is everyone in Room 316 falling for her now?" he thought.
Staring at Bradley's message, Elijah was still reeling, but he frowned and typed back. [Brad, I'm honestly shocked you're after Cameron, too. We might be friends, but I'm not giving up. May the best man win.]
"Compete?" Bradley smirked, his eyes glinting with a dangerous amusement.
Bradley: [Elijah, try to take Cameron from me and you'll seriously regret it.]"
'No way. Did Bradley really just say that?' Elijah wondered and stared at the screen in disbelief.
'Bradley is so gentle. And now he's talking this crazy? Is this even the same person? Was it really Bradley I'm talking to?' Elijah wondered.
To make sure, Elijah shot him a video call.
Just when he thought Bradley wouldn't pick up, Bradley's familiar face popped up
on the screen.
“Brad?” Elijah was taken aback. Yeah, it really was Brad. But Elijah felt like
Bradley was a totally different person now.
Bradley stared at him through the screen, that signature faint smile still on his lips,
but his eyes were almost completely cold.
“Elijah, let me give you some advice-don't bother wasting your time trying to take Cameron from me," Bradley said, his tone as calm as ever. But the words were downright domineering.
Elijah's instincts were spot on. It really was like Bradley had turned into a
completely different person. The face was the same. But his personality was a whole different story.
The Bradley Elijah used to know was all elegance and warmth. The man in front
of him now was so overbearing that it was almost r
"Are you really Bradley?" Elijah still couldn't believe it.
It had only been a few days since they last saw each other. Elijah was surprised
Bradley had changed this much. Bradley's lips curled into a smile, but his voice was icy cold. "Elijah, seems you and Cameron are both wondering the same thing." "Cameron?" The moment he heard her name, Elijah's worry spiked. "Br-"
He started to say Brad, but the word caught in his throat. Chapter 649
"Bradley, where's Cameron?" Elijah asked.
Bradley replied, "She's at my place."
"Your place?" Elijah frowned. "So you lied to me earlier when you said she wasn't
with you?"
Bradley replied, "She's in her room and I'm in mine. That hardly counts as being together, does it?"
Elijah frowned. "It's so late. Why is Cameron still
home?"
Bradley arched an eyebrow. "Why don't you take a wild guess?"
Elijah caught the smug look on his face and said seriously, "Bradley, don't think
you can fool me. Cameron already told me she doesn't want to date
anyone."
"Oh, so you confessed to Cameron and got rejected?" Bradley said.
'No wonder Cameron was so smooth when she turned me down,' Bradley
thought. 'Looks like she's had plenty of practice saying no to confessions
before.'
Elijah could only stare in silence. 'Wait, did Cameron actually agree to be with
Bradley?' he wondered. 'But Cameron had only told me today that it's all just an act to trick Austin. Bradley's lying.'
Elijah was immediately on guard. "Bradley, what did you do to Cam? Her phone's out of service—is this your handiwork?” he demanded, his tone sharp.
Bradley snorted with a laugh. "No wonder you're the genius everyone says you are. Sharp as ever."
Elijah's eyes went wide. "Bradley, what did you do to Cam?"
Bradley's faint smile disappeared. "Do I need to report to you about what I do to
her?"
Elijah shot back, "Bradley, don't forget your goal is to become a lawyer. Do you really dare do anything to Cam?"
Bradley replied, "Elijah, why are you so worked up? What could I possibly do to Cam? I haven't done anything, so don't go accusing me."
Elijah snapped, "I want to see Cam. I need to make sure she's safe and sound."
Bradley replied, "She's already asleep." Elijah shot back, "Go wake her up for me."
"Shh," Bradley said, pressing a finger to his lips. “Don't wake her, or Cam will be pissed."
Elijah was speechless.
Bradley leaned back in his chair and said, “Elijah, I'm tired. I'm going to bed, too." With that, Bradley abruptly hung up the video call.
Elijah was left staring at his phone, completely speechless. Bradley went right back to the surveillance feed. Cameron was still lying
obediently in bed, fast asleep. A smile curled at Bradley's lips as he looked at the screen and said softly, "Goodnight, Cam."
Elijah stared at his phone, his brows knitted tightly in worry. But he didn't call back. It was pointless anyway.
Bradley was like a totally different person now, and there was no word from
Cameron at all.
What if Bradley really has Cameron locked up?' Elijah thought, anxiety twisting in
his gu
gut. Panic gnawed at him.
He immediately reached out to his roommate, Calder, asking if he could get his girlfriend, Lila, to help track down any contact info for Cameron's family, Even though it was nearly midnight, they got back to him pretty quickly. Turned out, all they had was Cameron's phone number-none of them knew her actual address.
Cameron had put down Noble Vista as her address with the school counselor. But
she'd left the family contact section blank. There was no way to reach her. No one had any clue where she was.
That meant the only option left was to try getting in touch with Bradley's family.
Everyone in Viremont knew the Saunders family, so getting their contact info was
no big deal.
In the master bedroom on the second floor at the Saunders Manor's main house
in Viremont, phone in hand, the butler braced himself for a scolding and knocked
on Nathan and Beth's bedroom door.
It was already past midnight. Nathan and Beth were, of course, already asleep.
But the caller insisted it was urgent-something about Bradley-and that they
absolutely had to take the call.
After thinking it over, the butler finally took the risk and knocked. After a long moment, Nathan opened the door in his pajamas, his naturally
imposing face now clouded with irritation. "What is it in the middle of the night?"
The butler gave Nathan a quick rundown, then handed him the phone.
Nathan frowned, but in the end, he still took the phone. "Hello?"
