Shrouded Affections Winning Back My CEO Wife

Chapter 1119

Chapter 1119:

“Ms. Curtis, we’ve delayed this too long already. Ms. Sandoval repeatedly emphasized this case before leaving. We really need you to review the information soon,” the officer said, his voice laden with urgency.

Eileen frowned and said, “I see.”

With that, she hung up the phone and settled back onto the sofa. “Grandma, you mentioned only one person from the immediate family can enter the ancestral tomb this time, right?” Eileen asked.

In the Vazquez family, a superstition held that direct family members who tended to the tomb might have their lifespans shortened. This was why it was typically the duty of the immediate family.

Eileen and the others had chosen to go to Onaland before the event because of this superstition.

“Yes, you’ll need to bring a shovel and flower seeds to perform the rituals. Scatter the seeds around the tomb, so by next year, Dottie’s resting place will be adorned with flowers,” Leyla said in a gentle tone, imagining the flowers at her daughter’s tomb.

“Does anyone outside our family know about this tradition?” Eileen asked.

“How would they know?” Leyla responded without hesitation. “Though Keith might know this, since your mother undertook similar rites for your grandfather while they were together.”

“I see,” Eileen replied. “Then I’ll purchase the flower seeds and visit the tomb alone.”

Eileen stood up and called Bryan, saying, “I need you to accompany me to go shopping, but I’ll need to make a trip up the mountain later.”

“Okay,” Bryan agreed promptly.

Shortly after, Bryan returned, and they drove to the largest flower shop in town, where they encountered reporters.

Eileen told the reporters her plans to perform the ancestral rites at ten o’clock the next morning.

In the evening, as Eileen reflected under a star-filled sky, she muttered, “It’s time to put an end to this.”

On the boundless plain, the silhouettes of pine trees appeared faintly against the horizon. The morning sun wasn’t dazzling, but Eileen still wore sunglasses.

She glanced around with a composed air. The place was deserted. She carried the shovel on her shoulder, her slender frame dressed in a pair of worn suspenders, and her long black hair was tied into a neat bun.

Her limbs were so delicate that she didn’t look capable of the work ahead.

Many from the Vazquez family’s extended family had tried to dissuade her from doing this herself. It was bad luck for her. Besides, the main issue was that the work required strength, but Eileen appeared so frail.

However, their words couldn’t sway Eileen. She had made up her mind.

Dottie’s tomb hadn’t been relocated for long, and Eileen found it easily. She approached and placed the tributes with care.

“Morn, I’m here to visit you. Don’t worry; I’ll take good care of Grandma. I’m not familiar with Alverton. Most of my friends and relatives are in Onaland, so I can’t stay here. But rest assured, I’ll manage the Vazquez family and the VQ Group well.” Her voice was soft, as though speaking to a person standing in front of her, not a cold tomb.
