Chapter 70
Veronica fell silent for a moment before saying, "Attorney Horigan sure knows how to live it up."
Eloise, being shy, blushed as she took the phone.
Veronica asked a ton of questions, but didn't get any concrete answers.
Eloise was too embarrassed to admit that they had indeed gotten up close and personal last night, but they didn't actually do it. Still, Harvey spent quite some time...
Veronica tried to crack a few jokes.
Just then, a news clip started playing on the café's TV screen.
Pianist Griffin Lynch had returned from abroad and planned to tour several major cities.
The scene at the news broadcast was buzzing with reporters, very lively.
Veronica snorted, "Griffin, he's our pride and joy! His concert tickets are like gold dust, loved by countless people! Who would've thought that 25 years ago he was just a broke guy who couldn't even afford rent!"
Eloise, being a piano student, naturally knew about Griffin.
She greatly admired him, her teacher had once told her that she played with a style similar to Griffin's.
Eloise was thrilled by that for quite some time.
Griffin was such an untouchable figure.
Seeing Griffin in the news again and hearing his name, Eloise felt her blood pump with the love for music.
She still wanted to play the piano.
Maybe Harvey was right, she should study abroad in Britain after everything was over.
Eloise was deep in her thoughts, Veronica asked her, "Eloise, what's up?"noveldrama
Eloise smiled faintly, "Nothing."
Veronica turned back to the TV screen, suddenly saying, "Eloise, have you noticed? Griffin is ambidextrous when he plays the piano, seems like you are too! That's pretty rare."
Eloise started to pay attention.
Indeed, that was the case, Griffin was also ambidextrous.
Eloise couldn't help but laugh, "Maybe it's because we both play the piano."
Veronica teased her, "Don't be ridiculous! That's a long shot, what does that have to do with playing the piano, it's just a coincidence."
Eloise nodded, her eyes fixated on Griffin on the screen, burning with intensity.
Veronica joked, "If I hadn't seen you getting closer with Attorney Horigan, I would've thought you had a thing for older men."
Eloise was a bit annoyed.
Veronica quickly raised her hands in surrender, "Don't be mad, we should think about what to wear for the reunion! We can't let that bitch Ravenna steal the spotlight."
Eloise didn't want to compare herself to people like Ravenna, but Harvey would be there that day, she had to make sure he wouldn't be embarrassed.
So, Eloise picked out a couple more pairs of high heels and got a new hairstyle. Afterwards, Eloise felt pretty good about how she looked.
She caught a cab home, flopped on the couch and called Harvey. It took him a while to pick up.
"Are you coming home tonight?" Eloise asked.
Harvey chuckled, "Weren't you satisfied last night? Want some more tonight?" Eloise blushed, falling silent.
Harvey was standing on the balcony of the second floor of his house, gently playing with the white curtains, whispering, "One of my father's old friends from Britain is on his way, looks like I can't make it tonight."
Britain?
What a coincidence!
Griffin also came back from Britain.
Eloise felt a wave of tenderness, "Then you better spend some time with him."
Harvey nodded, about to continue talking when a refined voice came from behind, "Harvey!"
Harvey turned around.
Behind him stood a man in his 40s, looking suave, acting gracefully.
Harvey whispered a few words to Eloise before hanging up.
He smiled, "Griffin, it's been years."
This man was Griffin, a long-time friend of Parker, and they admired each other greatly.
He came back this time, ostensibly to hold concerts, but in reality, he was secretly searching for his biological daughter...
What do you think?
