Chapter 318 Two-Faced
Scarlett has always been fearless, just as she once hurt Emily.
If it weren't for Michael's timely appearance... Emily lowered her head, not daring to
continue thinking, nor should she recall that terrifying past.
Now she could understand why Michael wouldn't allow Scarlett to get close to Mason.
Wait!
Could it be that Michael already knows what Scarlett has done?
It shouldn't be. According to Isabella's description, Michael should be unaware.
Could he have sensed something, but is reluctant to speak out?
After careful consideration, Emily thought this might be the case.
After all, she was his mother. No matter how much Michael despises her, the bond of blood relations prevents him from thinking too complicatedly about things.
In other words, Michael simply doesn't dare to think that way.
He can't face Scarlett's malice, nor dare to admit that his mother is that kind of person.
So, like Mason, he can only continue to pretend to maintain the superficial peace of the Smith family.
On the other side, Michael was standing outside a window, looking at the unconscious Mason.
The worry and panic were beyond words.
At that moment, Michael truly believed that no one could understand him. He also knew that he had to support the entire Smith family and even the entire Smith Corporation by himself.
And at this time, someone had to come and stir up trouble.
"Michael, why don't you go and rest for a while? With me here, your grandfather will be fine."
Is that really the case?
Michael heard Scarlett's soft and tender voice, with a few crocodile tears on her face, and couldn't help but feel irritated.
He closed his eyes and replied in a deep, gloomy voice. "No need."
Upon hearing this, Scarlett "cried" even harder.
"Michael, you haven't said much to me since you came back from Everglade City. I'm really worried about you. I didn't take good care of your grandfather, it's my fault, but you have to understand me, I've tried my best..."
Before Scarlett could finish her act, Michael turned his head.
His face was grim, and the look in his eyes was bone-chilling, exuding a murderous aura. Scarlett, seeing this, quickly dodged.
"Michael, why are you looking at me like that?"
"What do you think?" Michael retorted. "You tried your best? What did you try your best at? As far as I know, when Grandpa fainted, all the servants in the house were helping. And you? You were unhurried, indifferent, even chatting with Alice and inviting them in to talk?
"This is the result of your best effort? If it weren't for Benjamin, I wouldn't dare to imagine if Grandpa would still be in this world!"
As he spoke, Michael nearly broke down. His face twisted, and his roar was terrifyingly fierce.
Scarlett didn't expect that Bryan would tell Michael everything so quickly.
Weren't they supposed to have a bad relationship?
They seemed like good friends!
Scarlett was momentarily embarrassed, not knowing how to respond. Helpless, she could only keep crying.
Doctors and nurses passing by occasionally looked on with a watching-the-show expression. Seeing this, Michael, to preserve the Smith family's reputation, frowned and spoke to Scarlett. "Go home. Grandpa has me here; we don't need your help." Scarlett seized the opportunity to continue her act. "I'm just afraid you're too busy to handle everything. There's still work at Smith Corporation."
Michael responded coldly. "There's still Emily, and if necessary, there's Veda. She's grown up and should learn to take responsibility."
Emily?
Scarlett immediately thought of her mother, Isabella, and felt displeased.
"You're getting a divorce, Michael. Emily is no longer part of the Smith family. She won't be loyal to us, so how can she take good care of your grandfather? We are a family that supports each other; we are the closest!"
Scarlett's prejudice against Isabella was deep-rooted, and she couldn't easily let go of her bias against Emily.
Moreover, that day, Isabella had already caught her weakness.
So in front of Michael, she couldn't hide her emotions.
She resorted to the old arguments about blood relations to manipulate Michael.
But how could Michael believe Scarlett's words? He knew his mother too well, even better than she knew herself. Michael knew Scarlett always put herself first.
Compared to Emily, she was a world apart.
"I said, there's still Veda in this family. Veda has grown up and needs to take responsibility, and you," Michael paused, his tone softening slightly, "you have your own life."
Michael's decision seemed indisputable, his tone firm and unyielding.
Scarlett felt a wave of helplessness. She knew that in this family, Mason didn't like her, and neither did Michael, but she still had to rely on Michael.

Thinking of this, Scarlett felt breathless, her heart in torment.
Although Michael's arrangement seemed reasonable, Scarlett still felt marginalized.
She began to suspect that this was all Michael's deliberate doing.
However, she also knew that it was not the time to argue. She needed to keep an eye on Isabella and make her shut up.
And as for Mason, the hospital shoul be where he ends up.
The Smith family could only have one person in charge, and that person had to be her, or at least her son Michael.
All the other so-called power holders had to disappear one by one.
"I understand, Michael. Don't worry, Mason will wake up. I won't disturb you here. I know I can't help, so I'll leave."
What she thought in her heart was one thing, but what she said was another. Scarlett acted so well that she even believed herself.
Then, as she slowly turned to leave, her expression changed, revealing a sinister smile. Under the blue light of the hospital corridor, she looked extremely cold and ruthless. Isabella was still persuading Emily.
She knew that Scarlett wouldn't let her off easily since she had exposed Scarlett's scheme.
But despite this, Isabella had to take the risk and repeatedly warn Emily.noveldrama
The Smith family was not an ordinary family, nor was it a place where good fortune often showed up.
Seeing Emily still indecisive, filled with emotions, unable to make a decision for a long time, Isabella became anxious and directly said to her. "You're pregnant and about to have a baby. You can't keep hesitating like this!"
What do you think?
