Chapter 454
Charles looked at Evelyn with a mix of emotions, his voice softening as he gently promised, "Eve, please don't be upset. I've sorted everything out. The surgery will be safe, and Adam will be fine."
"After the surgery, I'll make it up to him-financially, professionally, whatever it takes. I won't let him donate a kidney for nothing."
"Charles, enough with the chatter. No matter what you say, Adam won't agree to donate. Get out, now!" Evelyn's chest rose and fell with anger as she glared at Charles, pointing toward the door, making it clear he needed to leave.
When Charles didn't budge, Evelyn pushed him and kicked at him. "I said, get out! Didn't you hear me?"
"Eve, calm down. This is a matter of life and death. Can't we put aside our differences for now? Sandy's in a critical state, waiting for Adam's kidney to save her life. We can't waste any more time!"
Charles was frantic, knowing that every second of delay added to Sandy's risk.
"And why does her life matter to us? I've already said-if Sandy's in trouble, it's karma for all the wrongs Dahlia has done! Get out, do you hear?" Unable to shove Charles out, Evelyn grabbed whatever was on the bedside table and threw it at him.
Charles had hoped to reason with Evelyn, but seeing her so upset and knowing time was running out for Sandy, he dodged the flying objects, his tone becoming more serious.
"Eve, it's not up to you anymore. Before you got here, Adam had signed the voluntary donation agreement."
Charles's words hit Evelyn like a bolt of lightning, her eyes widening as she noticed the familiar document in Charles's hand.
She quickly turned to Adam. Had he really signed it?
Adam's gaze at Evelyn was full of mixed emotions-apology, pain, reluctance, and helplessness.
Signing the agreement was a tormenting choice for him, aware that donating a kidney to Sandy was a psychological blow to Evelyn.
But not signing meant he couldn't trust Charles's character.
Past experiences had shown that Charles would do anything for Dahlia and Sandy.
Evelyn looked at Adam, unable to ask why he signed. She already knew the answer.
Adam, an orphan, had only cared about winning championships and being with her all these years.
Now, with no chance at a championship, Charles had only managed to force Adam to sign because of her.
His eyes said it all.
"So what if he signed? Adam can change his mind anytime. Charles, if you dare to ignore his wishes and forcefully take his kidney for Sandy, I will make sure you end up in jail!"
If Charles was willing to risk everything for Sandy, she was ready to see him behind bars.
Charles looked at Evelyn with a calm demeanor.
"He can't back out now, Eve. Sandy is already in the operating room. If Adam backs out and Sandy loses her life because of it, he'll face legal consequences."
"Believe me, I can make him regret it."
Evelyn shook with anger at his words.
"Charles, how can you force Adam like this? How can you face Charlie?!"
Evelyn's eyes were red as she rushed at Charles, her last chance.
She deliberately mentioned Charlie, hoping to awaken some humanity in Charles, to make him hesitate so she could snatch the donation
agreement and tear it apart.
But before she could reach it, Charles grabbed her wrist with his strong hand.
"Eve, I'm sorry," Charles said softly.
As Evelyn tried to use her other hand, Charles suddenly raised his hand.
A swift chop to the back of her neck.
Evelyn's eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at Charles.
Then, everything went black.
Her body went limp, falling into Charles's arms.
"Charles!" Adam hadn't expected Charles to lay a hand on Evelyn.
"She's fine. Don't waste any more time. If something happens to Sandy, no one will have peace!"
Charles gently laid Evelyn on a nearby couch, covering her with Adam's blanket.
His actions were tender, but his words were cold enough to send chills down one's spine.
It seemed his patience with Evelyn
was only intact as long as Dahlia and Sandy were safe. If anything happened to them, Charles would go to any lengths for their sake.
Adam followed Charles out of the room.
On the way, Charles drove as fast as he could back to the hospital where Sandy's
surgery was scheduled.
Dahlia, who had been anxiously
waiting outside the operating room,
clung tightly to the wheelchair,

She knew it. Luck was on her side.
Charles had indeed brought Adam.
In the end, her goal was achieved.
The thought of Adam's kidney in Sandy, tormenting Evelyn for a lifetime, filled her
with joy.
"Let's start the surgery right away," Charles instructed the doctor.
Adam's expression was cold and numb as he followed the doctor inside.noveldrama
