The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 742

Thomas became furious when he heard how Caleb spoke. "But she lost 28 times consecutively! She used to win most of the time when she played, you know? It'd be weirder if she didn't cry about it.

"Couldn't you have gone easy on her since she's so much older than you?"

But Caleb shrugged in return, saying, "There is no room for family ties when you're gambling, and even my own mother wouldn't stand a chance-let alone an

old lady!"

Thomas was so mad that his face flushed red. He wanted to say something but decided against it. Then, he turned to Matthew and said, "There's nothing else for me to say then, Matthew. I'll take my leave first."

Matthew followed him out and said, "I'm so sorry for that. I never thought things would turn out like this. Comfort your grandmother-I'll have a word or two with my colleague for being inconsiderate."

At that, Thomas waved his hand. "Alright, alright. I'll leave first."

Matthew waved back to bid him goodbye before returning to the yard, staring at Caleb speechlessly. He didn't think that Caleb would go so hard on an old lady after he forbade him from playing it big.noveldrama

Seeing how Matthew kept staring at him, Caleb asked carefully, "Did I do something wrong?"

Caleb had always been careful and meticulous whenever he worked for Matthew because he was scared that it would anger the latter.

He didn't want to make a mistake just shortly after Matthew accepted and allowed him to hang around him, but Matthew felt that he came off a little too harsh when he saw Caleb's expression.

Matthew remembered how he would always avoid his stern-looking superiors when he first started work.

Thinking of that, Matthew chuckled and said, "There's nothing wrong with gambling with an old lady."

Having heard that, Caleb let out a long sigh of relief, feeling his body relax as well.

Caleb hadn't only decided to join Matthew because of his gratitude toward him, but it was also because he didn't have much of a choice.

He was a gambling expert with a special trait, which involved the cameras he planted and used. Because of this, he was afraid that there would be someone else who set their sights on him and would kidnap his wife and children to threaten him again.

Hence, Caleb wanted to find someone who could support him. In the end, he chose Matthew, who possessed the most ruthless skills he had ever seen.

Though he was afraid that Matthew would set all kinds of rules for him, he thought that this was the best arrangement he could settle for now.

Lorraine then playfully swiped her cheeks as she called out to Caleb in a childish voice, "Shame on you. See who's embarrassed now? Not me! It's you-picking on an old lady when you're all grown up."

Caleb flushed in embarrassment and laughed. "Alright. I won't pick on the old lady anymore. But what about the old men?"

Lorrain then stuck out her tongue and made a face at Caleb.

For three days in a row, Matthew stayed at home and guarded his parents' safety.

Meanwhile, Caleb spent his time at the community recreation center and sent two old ladies crying back home. On the third day, Caleb lost to the stubborn old men who were playing with him. However, he vowed to get back at them the next day.

For three whole days, there wasn't a single movement from The Misfortune's Veil, and Rachel called Matthew on the fourth day, saying, "Matthew, there's something that feels off about this."

Matthew frowned. He was waiting for the assassins from The Misfortune's Veil and the Fuller family from Mistvale City to come after him.

Now that Rachel was troubled, he felt that it must be the Fuller family who had taken action. "What do you mean by that?"

Rachel answered with much worry, "The rehabilitation hospital filed a lawsuit against Silvaris Pharmaceuticals and said that the drug we produced caused fatal reactions in a patient."

It was from Silvaris Pharmaceuticals that the spark between Matthew and the Fuller family was ignited. Could it be a retaliation from the Fuller family?

Matthew went deep into thought. The Fuller family always used to settle things by hiring assassins or martial artists to finish him off. Yet, they had chosen to switch up their tactics and take the legal path this time.

Since they couldn't override them with force, they would crush them with reason. This time, Matthew wouldn't need to take action personally.

He said, "They can file a lawsuit for all I care. Just form a team with some good lawyers and slowly fight them off in court."
