The Night I Let Go

Chapter 14

Meanwhile, inside the Ferrari, Zachary shoved his phone into his pocket and gazed out the window at the fleeting night scenery.

The atmosphere in the car felt strange. He was feeling a bit down and didn't want to talk, but Anya seemed to have an endless supply of chatter.

"Are you in a bad mood? Is it because of your ex-wife?" she asked, her tone light but inquisitive.noveldrama

Anya pressed on. "Mr. Lloyd, I'm not very good at comforting people, but honestly, with your qualities, what kind of woman can't you find?"

She continued, her words flowing like a river. "There are thousands of women in the world and even more beautiful ones. If your ex-wife can't see your worth, that's her loss."

She continued saying, "You shouldn't be like her. You need to open your eyes and look around. There are so many girls around you who are more outstanding, prettier, and more charming than your ex-wife!"

"Mr. Lloyd, why are you closing your eyes?" Anya said, noticing he wasn't engaging with her.

Seeing Zachary ignore her, Anya pouted a little but quickly perked up, her eyes sparkling as she teased, "Oh my darling, you talk about emptiness, but you're closing your eyes. If you opened them and looked at me, I wouldn't believe you'd find nothing."

"Oh, my darling..." Anya continued to tease Zachary.

Zachary, though merely resting his eyes, wasn't asleep. Anya's quirky teasing was too amusing to resist. He finally opened his eyes, suppressing a laugh, and shot her a mock glare.

"Anya, you're supposed to be the goddess in the eyes of countless men in Yelbric. Can't you maintain your image and reputation?"

Anya flashed a flirtatious smile, her charm undeniable. "Oh, so you recognize me as a goddess? I'm giving you a chance to pursue me. Think it over, don't be ungrateful!"

"Enough! I told you, don't tease me!" Zachary exclaimed, feeling a little overwhelmed.

His previously heavy mood was lifted significantly by Anya's playful teasing.

Anya smirked, unfazed by his protest. "What's wrong with teasing you? Keep complaining, and I might just pin you down and kiss you right here in the car!"

Zachary raised an eyebrow, speechless.

Looking at Anya, the perfect goddess, he couldn't help but question life. Was this really her true nature?

It seemed that appearances were deceiving. She looked sophisticated and graceful on the outside, yet inside, she was a total goofball.

He wondered how the men in Yelbric would react if they discovered their beloved goddess was actually such a silly person.

With Anya's playful energy, the mood in the car shifted to something much more cheerful. The negativity surrounding thoughts of Wendy and his in-laws faded away, replaced by laughter and lighthearted gossip as they chatted freely, sharing genuine smiles and laughter.

Back at the villa, Anya wasted no time and rushed upstairs to take a shower.

Before heading up, she called out to Zachary, "Mr. Lloyd, hurry and make the pasta! Don't forget to add some meatballs. I love meatballs!"

With that, she dashed upstairs. Zachary, just having changed his shoes, couldn't help but roll his eyes at her urgency.

"Who's the spoiled one here?" he thought, bemused. "She calls me 'Mr. Lloyd' but expects me to do all the chores?"

Despite his disbelief, Zachary headed straight into the kitchen. About ten minutes later, he finished cooking the pasta and made his way upstairs.

He knocked on Anya's door and said, "The pasta is ready! Come down and eat them while it's hot!"

As he turned to leave, Anya's voice called out from inside the room, "Mr. Lloyd, the door is open! Can you come in and help me with something?"

Curiosity piqued, Zachary twisted the doorknob and walked in. The master bedroom had a girlish decor, dominated by pink and white hues.

Being in a girl's room, he merely cast a casual glance around before his attention

was drawn to the sound of Anya in the bathroom.

"Mr. Lloyd, I forgot to grab my clothes. Can you help me get a white lace

nightgown from the wardrobe?" she asked.

Without thinking much, Zachary walked over to the wardrobe. As he slid the door open, he was momentarily stunned by what he saw.

His face flushed crimson, and he quickly backed away, his heart racing.

He stammered before he bolted out of the room, "You can get it yourself, I'm heading downstairs."

With a loud creak, the bathroom door swung open. Anya poked her head out, scanning the room to ensure Zachary was gone before stepping out.

Her hair was damp, and she was wrapped in a pink towel that barely covered her.

Swathes of her creamy skin were exposed to the air. Her elegant

shoulders, delicate collarbone net

and

slender, flawless arms, not mention her long, smooth legs.

Her skin glistened softly, and she looked like a living work of art.

Sauntering over to the open wardrobe, Anya wore a teasing smile and murmured,

"You're a married man, yet you're still so shy?"

Inside the wardrobe hung various styles of sleepwear, mostly sheer and delicate, some even with

matching lingerie that left little to the imagination.

Anya chose a relatively conservative one, changed quickly, and hummed a

cheerful tune as she emerged from her room.

At the dining table, Zachary was focused on his pasta when he heard footsteps approaching from the hallway.

He glanced up and caught sight of Anya, looking fresh and radiant. For a brief moment, surprise flickered in his eyes, but after a quick look, he returned to his meal.

Anya strolled over, gliding past him. The air was suddenly filled with a delightful scent of the shower gel she had used.

Zachary felt a rare warmth creep onto his cheeks, whether it was from the steam of the freshly cooked pasta or Anya's presence, he couldn't tell.

"Mr. Lloyd, I didn't expect you to be such a great cook! This pasta is amazing!" Anya praised as she dug into her bowl.

Zachary said nothing, finishing his meal in a rush before standing up to head upstairs.

Just as he reached the stairs, a thought struck him. He turned to Anya and said, "Leave the dishes. I'll take care of them in the morning!"

After saying that, Zachary quickly headed upstairs, and soon Anya heard the sound of a door closing from the second floor.

Watching Zachary retreat, Anya tilted her head, unable to suppress the grin on her

lips.

She whispered to herself, "The domineering female CEO and her pure-hearted Mr. Lloyd? This story seems quite interesting!"
