The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving

Chapter 121

Sebastian was surprised to learn that Lucas was in the loop.

He had only found out about it yesterday, yet Lucas was already making a move.

Feigning ignorance, Sebastian shook his head. "Nothing's confirmed yet. It seems like you've got someone to recommend?"

"There is someone," Lucas replied with a composed smile.

Sebastian did not press further as the answer was obvious.

His eyes landed on Evelyn, who was standing nearby. Traces of hesitation could be seen on his face.

He had been in the business world for years. How could he not realize why Lucas was really here?

It was most likely an excuse for him to ask about the project and nothing to do with Evelyn.

Evelyn was not disappointed as she had long accepted the truth. After all, why would Lucas change suddenly after all those years of indifference toward her?

The only reason he was here now was because of Tiffany.

Evelyn walked toward them calmly. "Thanks for the help, Sebastian."

He cleared his schedule and appointments to be here, so she was genuinely grateful.

Sebastian gave her a light tap on the head. "It's nothing. However, I do have to head out soon. There's an important international conference that I have to attend. Can you handle things here on your own?"noveldrama

"Don't worry. I'll be here," Lucas said calmly while taking a glance at his watch.

Evelyn found it strange.

Sebastian shot Lucas a meaningful look. "True. With Lucas here, there's nothing to worry about."

After Sebastian left, Evelyn turned to the man beside her. Unlike his usual attire, he dressed somberly, which was fitting for the occasion-a plain suit and black tie. Even in something that simple, he still looked good while wearing it. It was clear that Lucas took the time to dress appropriately before arriving.

"Are you leaving soon?" Evelyn asked, guessing he would not stay for long.

A faint smile appeared on his face as he gave her a gentle look. "Trying to kick me out already?"

Caught off guard by how unusual he was, she answered, "No. Don't you have things to do?"

"And what exactly do I have to do?" He sipped on his tea with a raised brow. Evelyn went quiet. She couldn't fathom what he was up to exactly.

Why did he skip Millie's fireworks show?

Since Lucas did not offer any explanation, she did not bother asking either. That was his own business. As long as he showed up today, she had no complaints.

Justine stayed for dinner, keeping her company the whole time.

Blake answered a few calls in the middle of the meal. A woman's coy voice could be heard over the phone. He was not trying to hide it either.

"I'll visit you tonight, I promise. People can hear us here, so don't be silly," he coaxed softly.

Deborah glanced at Evelyn, who did not even look up. Lucas, seated beside her, remained just as indifferent.

An odd look flickered on Deborah's face.

She had known about some of the stories between Evelyn and Blake. Seeing

them together so peacefully now had put her at ease.

Luckily, Lucas was oblivious to all of it. Otherwise, it may not be as peaceful as it

was now.

Everyone left the table with different thoughts.

"Mr. Grant, let's catch up sometime, shall we? Jessica mentioned going skiing with Tiffany. Do you want to join us on a trip?" he asked before leaving.

He avoided Deborah but did not care about Evelyn's presence at all.

It was as if mentioning another woman in front of his wife was completely fine.

"We'll see," Lucas replied. He neither accepted nor turned down the invitation. "No problem. Contact me anytime, Mr. Grant," Blake said with a small chuckle. His gaze lingered on Lucas, then shifted to Evelyn.

The distance in their relationship was obvious to anyone.
