The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving

Chapter 139

As Lucas looked up, he looked through the rearview mirror and saw the thin figure who had just walked to the bus stop.

Evelyn looked slightly unsteady. He didn't know whether it was from low blood sugar or something else, but she had to support herself against the nearby billboard to stay upright. She seemed unwell.

His eyes remained cold and indifferent, yet he still spoke up. "Stop for a moment."noveldrama

Tiffany and Sophia looked over.

Sophia was the first to notice Evelyn's condition and, guessing what Lucas was thinking, said in frustration, "Lucas, you're still fooled by her? She was dissatisfied just now. She's probably faking it!"

"Ignore her. If you don't ignore her, you'll fall into her trap," she added, urging him to leave.

Tiffany also looked back at Evelyn and smiled silently.

Evelyn's little acts were getting more and more frequent.

She couldn't succeed but was unwilling to settle for less. Hence, all she knew was how to beg for the love of a man who didn't love her. It was rather funny.

Lucas looked at the rearview mirror and pondered for a moment.

Sophia found it troublesome and decided to reach out and tug on his sleeve to get his attention. In doing so, her elbow unexpectedly bumped into Tiffany's arm.

Tiffany drew in a sharp breath.

Sophia panicked. "Did I hurt you?"

Lucas turned around almost immediately. "What's wrong?"

Seeing how concerned he looked, Tiffany smiled gently. "It's nothing. I bumped my wrist yesterday when I was in the workshop, looking at parts. It's much better now."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"It was so late-I didn't want you to worry," Tiffany replied as she shook her head.

Lucas pressed his thin lips together and immediately looked toward the driver. "Go to the hospital."

As for Evelyn, he no longer had time to care for her.

Seeing his reaction, Tiffany couldn't help but let out a soft and sweet laugh.

When Evelyn steadied herself against the billboard, her lips were slightly pale. She heard the roar of an engine and turned to look. Lucas' car sped away. He had left in a hurry. It was as if the car's exhaust fumes were hitting her.

She didn't care about what happened to them and sat down to rest for a moment.

The cold quickly seeped into her bones. She shivered, and once her ride had arrived, she went home.

It was almost Easter, and the company was on break. However, this year was different from the previous years. Now that she was divorced, there was no need to spend Easter with the Grant family. She could go home and be with Deborah and Leonard.

There were only a few people at home. Since her mother was no longer around, it was always rather quiet.

After some thought, Evelyn decided to bring Deborah and Leonard somewhere else for Easter.

She asked Justine whether there were any good places in Clementon suitable for elderly people to relax and have fun. Justine quickly sent her a long list of options.

Evelyn roughly went through the list and picked a hot spring hotel offering dinner services for Easter Eve.

The hotel was located in the mountains on the outskirts. It was a scenic area. There would even be a bonfire party at night, so many people chose to spend Easter there. It saved time and effort, and it was more relaxing and fun.

Evelyn booked a room for herself and a large suite for Deborah and Leonard. They could choose to dine indoors.

After telling them, Deborah seemed to be in a good mood and was happy to go on a trip.

...

On Tuesday, which was the eve of Easter, Evelyn wondered if she should inform Lucas that she wasn't returning to the Grants for Easter as she ascended the mountain.

She glanced at his name in her contacts, but she put her phone away in the end.

Lucas probably already knew she wouldn't be coming back this year. He would come up with an excuse for Maria on his own.
