The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving

Chapter 147

Meanwhile, Jason had asked if she'd managed to get in touch with the doctor. Evelyn told him the truth.

Jason replied, "His phone is basically just for show. Most of the time, he's in remote places abroad with no internet or signal. He's not ignoring you on purpose."

She didn't feel it was appropriate to keep pressing the matter after hearing the explanation.

He wasn't obligated to help her in the first place.

Even though she trusted that anyone Jason introduced would be from the top in their profession, she wouldn't waste her time waiting around for nothing if she couldn't get in contact. She had to be prepared.

While still on break, Evelyn shifted her focus back to finding out which specialists might return to the country after the holidays, using all the connections she could to gather information.

As for Lucas, they still hadn't contacted each other yet. Evelyn didn't have the time to think about anything else as she was too busy gathering information on medical experts.

At the equestrian club, Tiffany dismounted her horse with ease after riding it. Mason, who was nearby, immediately clapped and cheered. "Not bad! With skills like that, you could totally compete in professional events. How cool!"

Sophia, who was beside Lucas, said with stars in her eyes, "Tiffany, is there anything you can't do? You're great at studying, and you can play too. You're a genius!"

"Would you look at that? Even Sophia is your number one fan now," Mason teased with a laugh.

He then glanced toward Fiona, who was playing a video game. "Hey, Fiona, why don't you learn to ride? Sophia can teach you."

Out of everyone present, Fiona was the only one who hadn't learned yet.

Jason looked toward her and asked, "Do you want to give it a try?"

Tiffany walked over with a gentle smile. "Don't worry, I'll keep you safe."

Only then did Fiona look up. Shaking her head, she replied, "No, thanks. I want to play games with my sister."

Tiffany stopped smiling. "You have a sister?"

Jason immediately knew Fiona was talking about Evelyn.

Fiona nodded. "A super pretty sister who I know is especially good at gaming. You guys can go ahead with the ride. I'm not interested."

Tiffany could tell the girl really liked this person, and since Jason showed zero surprise at the mention of her, he already knew who. She walked over, grabbed a water bottle in front of him, and twisted it open.

"Why haven't I heard you mention this person before?"

Lucas casually looked over at them.

Jason paused while drinking, after which he answered, "It's not important."

It was clear he had no intention of elaborating.

Tiffany turned to look at Lucas. She raised a brow and asked, "Do you want to race with me, Lucas?"

Lucas looked at her. His gaze was cool and indifferent as he replied, "Sure."

Mason excitedly acted as their cheerleader. "It doesn't matter who wins! What matters is that I'll definitely get the perfect aesthetic shots of you two! You'll thank me for it!"

Tiffany couldn't help but smile sweetly. "That depends on your skill."

The two headed off toward the riding field, one after the other. Mason grabbed his DSLR and followed them.

Jason didn't join them.

After Fiona played for a while, she remembered she'd brought snacks today. She pulled out a delicate box from her bag.

She glanced over at Sophia. Then, she politely asked, "Want some?"

Sophia gave a quick glance. "What is it?"

Fiona took out a piece and handed it to her. "It's from Evie, the one who went camping with us last time. She made these and gave them to me. They're really tasty. You can try one."

Sophia's expression changed instantly. She stared at the palmier in disbelief. "Why would she give you dessert?"

Fiona looked at her, puzzled. "Obviously because she likes me. That's why Evie made them just for me."

"You're lying!" Sophia shot up from her seat. Her delicate little face was full of anger. "Why would she make them for you?"

She had asked Evelyn so nicely on the eve of Easter to make something for her, yet Evelyn didn't even respond.

Evelyn had treated her the best. Who did Fiona think she was?

She hadn't wanted to speak to Evelyn either when she didn't reply, not wanting Evelyn to get smug. Yet, the woman had made it for Fiona after rejecting her.noveldrama

Fiona looked at her, confused. "What's wrong with you?"

Why was she suddenly mad?

Sophia bit her lip and gave no explanation before turning to leave.

Evelyn had made her angry. She decided to ignore her in the future.

Although Jason didn't understand Sophia's thoughts, he could guess the reason. After all, no one in their circle had ever mentioned that Evelyn was Lucas' wife, and Sophia had never admitted it publicly either, so Fiona had no idea about their connection.

He patted Fiona. "Can I try a piece?"

Fiona hesitated for a moment, then handed him a small piece. "Just this one. You

can have a taste, that's it. This is from Evie, especially for me."

He looked at the tiny piece in his palm, feeling speechless.

Mason and the others returned not long after.

Tiffany walked beside him, looking at the photos on his camera with a faint smile on her lips.

Lucas noticed Sophia was gone and asked, "Where's Sophia?"

Fiona quickly answered, "She went back to rest. She got upset out of nowhere. I don't even know how I offended her."
