Chapter 15
"Ms. Chamber, you seemed mentally exhausted today. It so happened that my brother, Alvaro Khielson, has just returned from Ethereal Fang Alliance and brought back a large supply of Stellar Ambers," Vera said as she took out an elegant gift bag.
Inside was a transparent box filled with several large, lustrous purple Astral Ambers.
"Astral Ambers contain a high concentration of energy. Since you expended a great deal of mind essence while healing Derek, I thought you could use them." Vera extended the box toward Analise.
However, Analise didn't take it. "Finlay already gave me some when we returned. I'm feeling much better now. You should keep them for yourself, Ms. Khielson."
As soon as she finished speaking, Scott lowered his gaze, making a mental note that he, too, had plenty of Stellar Ambers to offer her.
"We have plenty at home. Please, just take them, Ms. Chamber. I'd really like to be friends with you-consider this a gift to mark our acquaintance." Wearing a playful smile on her face, Vera insisted and pushed the box directly into Analise's lap.
Vera was cute, Analise thought to herself. If not for her inevitable rivalry between females, they might actually become friends.
"Alright." Analise smiled and placed the box on the couch beside her.
"Ms. Chamber, which alliance were you originally from? I heard you only had a chip implanted after arriving in Stormclaw Alliance. Did you have a guardian before that?" Vera asked, her tone still light and friendly.
Analise met Vera's gaze, but her expression was unreadable. "I don't remember."
"You don't remember?" Vera frowned slightly and subtly scanned Analise. Pure humans didn't possess any beast-like traits, so just by looking, it was impossible to tell.
"The doctors at Stormclaw Hospital are fairly skilled. Didn't they offer any explanation? Did you lose your memory due to an injury?" Vera pressed, but her tone had shifted ever so slightly.
"What are you implying?" Scott's expression darkened. He sensed a hidden agenda behind Vera's words.
"No chip, found alone in the forest, no guardian, and no memories... yet possessing mind essence-Scott, don't you think that's suspicious?"
Vera stood up and moved beside Scott. "What if she's a Vexoth spy?"
"Impossible," Seott replied coldly. "The hospital ran a full
examination-there's nothing abnormal about Ana's body. You're overthinking things, Ms. Khielson." His displeasure was somehow evident.
"How is it impossible?" Vera's voice rose.noveldrama
"Alvaro just returned from Ethereal Fang Alliance, and he said the same kind of situation appeared there—a female with no chip and no guardian suddenly appeared.
"At first, that female also had the ability to calm males. But later, the males she had 'calmed' suddenly lost control and went berserk, injuring numerous residents of the alliance.
"And worse-those injured started showing signs of infection from the Vexoth venom. Previously, Vexoth-infected males couldn't
spread the infection to others, el
through their attacks, but now they can!
Vera turned sharply to Analise and pointed at her. "If she really is a Vexoth spy,
then Stormclaw Alliance could be in serious danger."
"If Ethereal Fang Alliance truly discovered a pure human female with mind essence, they would've made sure everyone knew about it." Scott sneered.
"Alvaro said a low-ranking male with a weak mind essence was the one who found her." Vera hesitated for a moment before continuing, "Since no females wanted him, he clung to the one he found and kept her hidden, never reporting it.
"Later, that very same male was injured by the female he had tried to protect. Only after he lost control and attacked the residents did he confess everything.
"Ethereal Fang Alliance confirmed that his body contained an even more potent strain of Vexoth venom than before, proving that the infection originated from her. "That female has since escaped and remains at large. It's too much of a coincidence—there's a real possibility that Analise was sent here by the Vexoths." Vera's gaze locked onto Analise, her voice firm and deliberate.
"That's impossible," Scott cut in. "If something like this had really happened, I, as the Stormclaw Alliance's commander, would have been notified immediately.
Just then, a crisp chime rang out, "Commander Hopkins, you have an incoming call from Ethereal Fang Alliance. Would you like to answer the call?"
What do you think?
