“Don’t worry about it,” Jake reassured her. “Worst case scenario, I’ll throw more money their way. I have plenty of that. But I won’t stand for anyone mistreating you. Even if it costs me every penny I have, I’ll make sure justice is served.”

Kallie’s heart swelled with gratitude and affection. She embraced Jake tightly, her voice laced with remorse. “I share the blame. I should have simply called you to resolve this, but I acted impulsively and escalated the situation.”

Jake frowned, his brow creased with concern. “This is not your fault, Kallie. Lisa is the one creating chaos, and it’s all because of me. Don’t worry about a thing. I’ll take care of it. Did you come all this way just to see me?”
