Chapter 281 Crying and Complaining
Richard helped her up, letting her head rest on his leg. He grabbed a bottle of water from the table, unscrewed it, and tried to give her a drink.
But instead of drinking, Sophie started choking.
Feeling uncomfortable, she flailed her arms and accidentally slapped Richard in the face.
She was completely unaware, still moving around with her eyes closed, restless. "Sophie, you're really asking for it!" Richard glared at her angrily.
Even drunk, Sophie could sense the anger in his voice.
All her grievances suddenly poured out. Sophie pouted and started crying.
She cried louder and louder until she broke into a full-blown sob. "Why are you so mean? I know you don't like me, but I like you! I've liked you for so many years and I've never changed. Can't you consider my feelings? How can you be so close to another woman in front of me? It breaks my heart! It hurts so much I could die!"
Listening to her tearful complaints and looking at her disheveled face, Richard's anger inexplicably dissipated.
For the first time, Richard felt helpless dealing with Sophie.
He pulled some tissues from the coffee table to clean her tear-streaked face.
As his gaze fell back on her face and he reached out, he noticed something was off.
Richard anticipated what was coming and felt an urge to throw her off, but he didn't. So, she ended up vomiting all over him.
"Sophie!" Richard crumpled the tissue in his hand, barely restraining himself from grabbing her by the neck in frustration.
After vomiting, Sophie quieted down significantly, completely unaware of how messy she looked with vomit on her face and hair.
Of course, the man holding her wasn't in much better shape, covered in her mess, though she couldn't see it.
Richard disdainfully threw her onto the sofa, making Sophie frown uncomfortably.
Richard quickly took off his dirty jacket and flung it far away.
But he couldn't get rid of the sour smell of vomit lingering in the air.
He wanted to leave Sophie there to fend for herself in the stench.
But after calming down a bit, he walked over, picked up the dirty, smelly Sophie, and carried her out of the private room.
In the hotel suite, Richard carried her straight into the bathroom and dumped her into the bathtub.
Water poured down on her head, and Sophie struggled uncomfortably, sliding down into the water.
Richard pulled her out again, but she slid back down as soon as he let go.
After several attempts, Richard had to hold onto her.
After being repeatedly tossed around, Sophie finally regained some awareness.
She struggled to open her eyes and saw multiple faces of Richard.
But why did each of his faces look so angry?
Sophie asked, "Richard, why are you angry?"
Sophie added, "Richard, I feel awful."
Suppressing his anger and rising desire, Richard endured the torment and helped Sophie take a bath.
As he washed her, Richard's eyes widened at the sight of red floating up from the
water.
A few seconds later, he glared at Sophie with a murderous look. "Sophie, you're really asking for it! Don't you know your own condition? How dare you get drunk."
Richard lifted her out of the bathtub, walked out of the bathroom, grabbed a blanket, and threw her onto it, then covered her with a quilt.
After the bath, Sophie seemed much more comfortable and soon fell into a deep sleep.
Richard left the hotel and found a nearby supermarket.
He walked around for a bit, spotted the feminine products section, and waited for the saleswoman to leave before quickly heading over.
There were too many brands, and he had no idea which to choose. He was about to grab a large pack and leave when the saleswoman suddenly returned. "Sir, are you buying diapers? You picked a medium size, suitable for babies weighing 10-20 pounds. How much does your baby weigh?"
Richard stared blankly at the item in his hand, realizing it was indeed baby diapers.
The saleswoman looked at him with a sincere yet slightly dreamy expression, waiting for his answer.
Richard put the diapers back and looked at the row of feminine products.
This time, he didn't dare to grab anything hastily. Clearing his throat, he said with some embarrassment, "I'm buying something for my wife."
The experienced saleswoman immediately understood, noticing Richard's reddening ears. She held back her laughter and stepped forward to introduce and suggest products to him.
Richard returned to the hotel with everything he had bought, and Sophie was still in the same position as when he left.
She seemed completely asleep.
He sat on the sofa, hesitated for a bit, and then picked up the packaging to read the instructions, following the steps one by one.
In the morning, Sophie woke up and immediately noticed the unfamiliar surroundings.
The headache reminded her that she had been drinking alone while her colleagues sang karaoke last night and had apparently gotten drunk.
She vaguely remembered looking for the restroom and possibly a man entering the women's restroom.
She wasn't sure if these things had actually happened or if they were just dreams. She turned over, and the blanket slid down a few inches, leaving her shoulder cold. Finally sensing something was wrong, she lifted the blanket and screamed.
Richard complained, "Fuck, what are you screaming about so early in the morning?" A familiar voice sounded behind her, filled with the annoyance of being woken up.
Sophie turned around in shock and saw Richard's face beside her.
In an instant, she assumed something indescribable had happened between them, just like that night a few years ago.
The difference was that this time, she was the one who was drunk.
But why was Richard here? And where was this place?
Richard could read her thoughts from her expression and smirked coldly. "Don't worry,
I'm not interested in you."
With that, Richard got out of bed and walked into the bathroom.
Soon, the sound of running water came from the bathroom.
Sophie glanced at the opened package of sanitary pads on the bedside table and sat
up in shock.
She lifted the blanket and saw that she had indeed been changed.
Who had changed her? Richard?
There didn't seem to be a third person.
Imagining that scene, Sophie frantically grabbed her hair, wishing she could disappear from the world.
She looked at the bathroom door again; the water was still running.
There was a new set of women's clothes on the bedside table. Not knowing how to face Richard when he came out, Sophie quickly dressed and snuck out.

Leaving the hotel, she felt immense regret.
She knew she couldn't handle alcohol and rarely drank. Why did she think drinking would solve her problems? Now she had embarrassed herself completely. Sophie had no memory of what happened last night and didn't want to know. Her intuition told her that knowing the truth would make her cry.
She was about to go to Lacey's to pick up Abby when Lacey called.
Lacey told her that she had already taken Abby to school and that Abby had been well-behaved and didn't ask for her mom, so she shouldn't worry.
Seeing that it was almost time for work, Sophie headed straight to the office.
As soon as she walked into the marketing department, her female colleagues stared at
her.
Feeling guilty under their gaze, Sophie quickly checked her outfit, afraid she had messed something up in her haste.
"Sophie, what a big spender!" a female colleague exclaimed.noveldrama
Sophie was puzzled, and the colleague walked over, admiring the fabric of her dress enviously. "This dress is Chanel's new release from last week. It costs four thousand dollars. I couldn't bring myself to buy it. Sophie, you're not usually one for luxury. Who bought this dress for you? Was it your boyfriend? He must be very wealthy, right?" "No, it's not what you think," Sophie stammered, unsure how to explain.
She had never been one to recognize brands, but she had felt the fabric was very comfortable and assumed it was expensive. She hadn't expected it to be so outrageously priced.
"If it's not your boyfriend, who would spend so much on a dress for you? Just admit it," the colleague said, a bit sourly.
Roger, who had confessed to Sophie a while ago, looked at her, realizing the gap between them from the expensive dress, and lowered his head in shame.
Sophie had no way to explain, so she chose not to, letting them think what they wanted.
She regretted wearing the dress to work.
If she had known it was so expensive, she would have gone home to change first.
After work, she took the bus as usual to pick up Abby. Near the bus stop by the kindergarten, she got off and walked a few steps before seeing a group of men standing by the roadside.
The men were looking at her and whispering among themselves.
Seeing their flashy outfits and leering smiles, Sophie instinctively walked in the
opposite direction, trying to stay away from them.
But suddenly, they walked towards her and blocked her path.
"What do you want?" Sophie took two steps back.
One of the thugs, with ears full of piercings, tilted his head and looked at her
suggestively, as if he had some bad intentions.
What do you think?
