Rejected the alpha mate 244
Chapter 244
Bradley POV
I slowly opened my eyes, the blurry light around me beginning to sharpen. Even the light was too harsh for me. The pain in my chest hit me immediately. My head was pounding, my body feeling heavy. It was like I was sinking into the bed beneath me. The air felt heavy, almost sterile. I realized I was in some kind of medical facility.
I instinctively reached for my chest, and the ache reminded me of what had happened. The memory of the bullet wound flashed in my mind. One of Morelli’s men had managed to shoot his gun at me. Rage consumed me and I wanted to go back and kill the bastard. Driven by my anger, I jerked up and immediately winced. The ache was still there. How much blood did I lose? I closed my eyes, and took a deep breath as Blaze growled in my head to fie down quietly and let him heal.
‘We will kill the bugger soon,‘ he growled.
‘We will,‘ I said and went back to sleep.
When I opened my eyes next, the dull humming of machines was persistent. I turned my head and saw Tarian sitting in a chair beside the bed. Even though his usual calm demeanor was laced with concern, there was a slight relief in his eyes when he saw me stir.
“You’re awake,” he said with a hint of a smile.
“Where am I?” I croaked, my throat dry and scratchy. Though the last thing I remembered was fighting Morelli’s men, getting shot, and the pain, everything after that was a blur.
“You’re in a secret facility,” Tarian replied. “In human town. We didn’t want to take the risk of you being seen in town’s hospital. This place is hidden, used for treating werewolves in emergencies.”
1 blinked, still groggy. It was then the scent of antiseptic and the faint sounds of equipment in the background made me realize where I was. “Wow, they have a secret facility here?”
Tarian chuckled. “It was made by Alpha Lucien after a lot of convincing to the humans. We have only two doctors here.”
I couldn’t help smiling. My father really saw things in the future. Thanks to him, I was taken care of in time. I was sure that there would be countless other wolves who must have used this facility. “How long was I out?” I asked, trying to sit up but immediately regretting it when my body protested.
“About six hours,” Tarian said with exasperation. “You took a direct hit to the heart. The bullet crossed through it. You bled a lot, but we managed to stabilize you in time.”
I groaned, feeling a wave of discomfort ripple through my chest. “It doesn’t feel like I was stabilized,” I muttered, trying to shake the grogginess off.
Tarian’s lips twitched in amusement, and he laughed. “Well, you were pretty damaged. In all my life, I hadn’t seen such a terrible wound, straight to the heart. Your heart stitched you up, but your body’s been in shock. I suggest that you allow your wolf to heal up well before you become active.”
I leaned back, resting against the bed. The dizziness was starting to subside. “I feel like I have been hit by a truck.”
“I understand. This wasn’t a pleasant experience.”
“What happened with Morelli?” I asked, remembering the task at hand. He couldn’t have just gotten away with everything. “Where’s he?”
Tarian paused for a moment, his face turning more serious. “Morelli’s empire has fallen apart quicker than expected. His real estate business has been completely dismantled. The authorities are moving in on him. We’ve been working with them to gather evidence. Most of it is already there. It’s only a matter of time before everything is with them. And I’m sure that whatever evidence is stacked up against him, it will be enough to send him to prison for two hundred years!”noveldrama
I exhaled in relief. “Finally, it’s over…”
“It’s not completely over,” Tarian said, his voice dropping lower. “Morelli is still out there, and there are others working with him. We’ve taken out his biggest sources, but he’s got connections and lawyers. We’ll have to stay alert.”

Chapter 244
“Fuck. Right,” I muttered, trying to clear my head. I was glad Morelli was on the ropes, but the fact that he was still out there, trying Në bark Log using his lawyers, was unsettling. Before I could say anything else, my phone buzzed from my bedside table. Tarian handed it to me. I saw the man the screen: Alpha Lucien.
I answered immediately. “Father?”
“Bradley,” Lucien’s voice came through, deep and controlled. “How are you feeling?”
I sighed. “Better.”
“Then you both come back here as soon as possible. My contacts said that Morelli’s men are searching for you like wild dogs. They want revenge, and they are bribing every damn person in the town to get information about you! Not only that, he is trying to influence some officers in the human- werewolf council to turn them against me.”
“The hell?” I raged. “That dog was in so many illegal trades. Don’t they know it?”
Father chuckled dryly. “That man was the head of a dangerous mafia. He has an ego larger than the universe. Do you think he is going to stay quiet? Just come back as soon as possible. Use the cover of the night, and come today.”
“Yes father,” I replied and disconnected the call. Then I looked at Tarian and said, “We have to go back.”
We arrived in the Shadowfang pack before dawn. Tammy was waiting for me in the main hall. “Brad!” she said as she hugged me tightly. “Goddess, how are you?” She sounded so worried that I hugged her back only to assure her.
“I’m better, Tammy. Stop being so dramatic!”
She removed herself, and smacked me. “You don’t deserve my love!”
I laughed at her as I sat down on the couch. “Why are you awake at this ungodly hour?” Over the last few hours, I was completely healed.
Tammy pursed her lips, and muttered a curse under her breath. “We really needed you back here. There’s a situation with Laura.”
1 frowned. “What’s going on with Laura now?”
Tammy sighed heavily. “She wants to replace Summer. She said that she was Summer.”
fully well and that now she would enter the last contest instead of
I could feel a spark of frustration flare inside me. “What do you meah she’s trying to replace Summer?” I asked, my voice sharp. “She can’t just waltz in and take Summer’s place. Not like that.”
“I know,” Tammy replied, her tone hardening. “But she’s being stubborn. You need to see. This could cause issues with the pack if we don’t handle it quickly. They’ve started liking Summer a lot. Besides, she said that the agreement signed between human council and werewolves stated her name, not Summer’s. So Summer can’t continue. According to Laura, Summer was her proxy, a ghost whose name would never appear in the history of Luna trials. She has mildly threatened us that she would report us to the council if we didn’t allow her to come back.”
I closed my eyes for a moment. “What a fucking mess!” I fumed. But what did I expect from Laura? She was just like her father–a slimy stinker. Her threat added another thing on my to–do list. But before that, I had to make Summer stay in the contest. But how?
What do you think?
