Defying Fate: The Unstoppable Eileen

Chapter 252

Eileen glanced at Egbert, remaining silent.

Then, she climbed off him, grabbed the baskets of fruit, and headed into the kitchen.

Sounds of washing fruit soon echoed from the kitchen.

Egbert then got up and moved towards the kitchen.

Eileen was busy at the sink.

Egbert reached over and plucked a washed grape, popping it into his mouth.

Eileen just continued washing the fruit, not reacting to him.

Egbert picked another grape, this time offering it to Eileen's lips, saying softly, "It's sweet, try it."

Eileen ignored him!

And then Egbert moved the grape closer to Eileen's lips.

The grape was already touching Eileen's lips. She had no choice but to frown and eat the grape.

The grape was small, and as Eileen ate it, her lips inevitably brushed against Egbert's fingertip.

He lowered his hand, subtly caressing his fingertip with his thumb before picking another grape and offering it to Eileen.

Eileen, still frowning, said, "I haven't finished eating!"

Egbert just laughed and patiently waited for her to finish before feeding her the second grape.

The minor disagreement they had seemed to have disappeared with the feeding of those two little grapes.

In fact, things were often like this at home. They would bicker and play around sometimes, but after a few minutes, everything would go back to normal.

In the production team's backstage area, the director was nearly pulling his hair out.

He was watching the surveillance video, observing the dynamics between three pairs of "husband and wife".

Calvert and Aurora knew each other from before. As they were friends, their so-called "married life" seemed more like friendly interactions. They were familiar with each other, polite, and had a certain level of understanding.

On the other hand, Hobson and Sylvia had never met before. Before today, they were complete strangers, so their interactions were exactly like how strangers would interact - very restrained.

But what was going on with Egbert and Eileen?

They were like an actual couple! They were hugging, playing, and feeding each other, and the way Egbert looked at Eileen was so affectionate and sweet!

The director exclaimed loudly, "We definitely can't air this! Didn't anyone tell them? Even though it's a simulated post-marriage life, it's still a reality show, not a romantic drama!"

The assistant director also chimed in, "Exactly, with their interactions and looks, anyone would think they're a real couple. But they're not! They're not a real couple, but they look like one. The audience will think they're acting and that our show is scripted!"

The director pointed at a staff member and said, "You, go remind them. Perhaps the two of them have misunderstood the concept of our show. Explain it to them so they can tone it down a bit!"

"Tone it down?" Eileen and Egbert were sitting in the living room, looking at the staff member sitting across from them.noveldrama

The staff member was also in a difficult position, sweating as he explained, "That is, the interactions between the two of you don't need to be so deliberate."

"Deliberate?" Eileen scratched her face, oblivious to what she had done deliberately.

She had been on many reality shows before, and her behavior had always been like this. No production team had ever accused her of being deliberate.

Seeing that she seemed to have misunderstood, the staff member further explained, "That is, the you guys can be a bit more natural. Just act as you usually would."

Eileen innocently said, "We usually..."

Egbert raised his hand to stop Eileen from speaking and asked the staff member, "Just act as we usually would, right?"

The staff member nodded repeatedly, "Yes, yes, yes. Your normal selves are the best, the realness of your daily lives is what the audience loves most!"

Egbert chuckled, then nodded, "Alright."

Seeing that they finally understood, the staff member breathed a sigh of relief and quickly excused himself.

After he left, Egbert turned to Eileen and said, "We gotta be natural, understand?"

Eileen frowned, "Was I not natural before?"

Egbert just laughed and said, "In any case, just act as we usually do."

Eileen ran her fingers through her hair and finally nodded, "Alright."

Egbert then asked, "You mentioned grocery shopping?"

Eileen quickly remembered and said, "Yes, the fridge is empty. We need to cook, but we should go grocery shopping first. There should be a market nearby."

Egbert picked up the car keys and said, "Let's go look."

They then left the house and drove along the road.

After a while, they saw a small supermarket in the neighborhood.

As they were filming, a cameraman followed them, so they didn't bother with masks or hats and just walked in.

The store was pretty empty. Eileen picked out the vegetables while Egbert carried the basket.

As Eileen put the vegetables into the basket, she decided on the menu for lunch.

When they reached the condiment aisle, Egbert suddenly halted and picked up a bottle of oyster sauce, asking, "Is this the one you usually use?"

Eileen glanced at it and saw that it was her usual brand, so she said, "Yes."

Egbert put the oyster sauce into the basket and picked a bottle of hot sauce.

Eileen then said, "The production team prepared hot sauce."

Egbert looked at her, "But it's not the one you usually use."

Eileen put the hot sauce back on the shelf and said, "Either one works. I use this brand at home because it frequently goes on sale. The one the production team prepared is a better brand."

Hearing this, Egbert didn't say much.

They continued walking and when they passed the dried goods section, Egbert stopped again and picked up some dried kelp, suggesting, "Let's make kelp and spare ribs soup for lunch."

Eileen put the kelp back on the shelf and said, "We'll make tomato soup for lunch."

Egbert didn't seem too pleased, "It's been a while since we had kelp and spare ribs soup."

Eileen frowned and said, "No, it hasn't. I made it for you a few days ago when the housekeeper was off. You said you wanted kelp and spare ribs soup, so I made it for you. Don't you remember?"

Egbert seemed to recall and then said, "Oh."

Eileen nudged Egbert forward, saying, "Let's go, let's go, time to check out. I'm starving."

They picked up their shopping baskets and headed towards the cashier's counter.

Meanwhile, the cameraman that was trailing them, along with the director and assistant director in the control room were speechless.

The director mechanically turned his head, looking at his assistant with a blank face. He took a deep breath, about to say something... Suddenly, he noticed a short hair resting on his shoulder.

The director stared at his shoulder in shock. Then, trembling, he picked up the hair, whispering, "It's only the first day... and I'm already..." Losing hair!!!

The assistant director hurriedly tried to soothe him, "Don't panic. Didn't they seem more natural?"

The director yelled, "But they are getting sweeter!!! What should I do? They look so cute together!!!"

The assistant director, stunned by the shout, could only point at the monitor, stuttering, "Let's, let's keep watching..."

The director, on the verge of tears, clutched the fallen hair in his hand and looked back at the monitor. And there he saw Egbert and Eileen, standing next to a shelf by the cash register.

Egbert pointed at the shelf filled with condoms, asking Eileen, "What kind do you want?"
