Defying Fate: The Unstoppable Eileen

Chapter 258

As soon as Eileen spoke those words, the room fell into a sudden silence.

Eileen snapped back to reality, realizing her words might not have come across as she intended.

"No, no," she tried to remedy. "That's not what I meant. I don't hit people, and I don't yell at people...'

Before she could finish, a boisterous laugh cut through the room. "Hahaha!"

Startled, Eileen turned to see Josephine laughing heartily. As she laughed, she slapped her thigh and said, "Hahaha, I always knew that little rascal Egbert could be a little useful! Hahaha!"noveldrama

After her laughter subsided, Josephine playfully nudged Rosalind, causing her to nearly lose her balance.

Sonia and Flossie watched the scene with a touch of helplessness. These two matriarchs, who were old enough to be grandmothers, were still as playful as children.

A while later, Blake and Chad joined them. As men, they couldn't contribute much to the women's conversation, so they just sat and listened. Another moment passed before Phyllis cheerfully announced, "Eileen, Josiah and I are heading out."

Eileen was taken aback. She and Egbert had invited Phyllis and Josiah to stay the night, considering they had traveled from afar to record the show. It was only right to offer them a place to stay after dinner. But now, with all the unexpected guests, they chose to leave!

Eileen frowned, rising to her feet. "I'll talk to the production team. I'm sure we can rent a nearby bed and breakfast."

Phyllis waved her off, "That's alright. It's not too late, we'll be fine heading back."

Eileen wasn't convinced, so she called out for Egbert.

Sonia spoke up, "You guys can stay and hang out. We'll be leaving soon."

Sonia turned to her mother-in-law and added, "Right, mom?"

Rosalind said nothing, causing Sonia to sigh.

Flossie patted Sonia's hand, whispering, "Let it go."

Sonia glanced at silent Josephine, and Flossie, then at Blake and Chad. But the two men avoided eye contact with her.

Sonia was speechless. What were these people thinking? They'd agreed not to disturb Eileen and to leave after dinner. Why were they insisting on staying the night?

At that moment, Egbert came out of the kitchen, drying his hands. "What's going on?"

Eileen explained, "Phyllis and Josiah are leaving."

Egbert was puzzled. He glanced at the people on the sofa, then said coldly, "They should be the ones to leave."

His words silenced the room. The Lopez family, knowing they were in the wrong, fell silent. Even Josephine didn't dare to argue with her son. Eileen sighed, “I'll talk to the director."

She took her phone and stepped out onto the balcony to make the call.

When she returned, Eileen announced, "The production team has rented the villa in D2. Phyllis, Josiah, and Mr. Dave will stay here tonight. Everyone else will stay at the villa. It should be spacious enough."

The Lopez family didn't dare to argue, pretending to accept the arrangement. But Simon wasn't willing to leave!

"I was invited! Why can Mr. Dave stay and I can't?" He protested.

Eileen looked at him coldly, "We only have three guest rooms."

Simon quickly suggested, "I can share a room with Mr. Dave!"

He turned to Jarvis, pleading, "Mr. Dave, is that okay?"

Jarvis paused, looking at Simon's pitiful expression. After a moment, he chuckled, "I don't mind."

Simon immediately looked at Eileen, who reluctantly agreed, "If Mr. Dave doesn't mind, then it's fine. But there's only one bed. Can you two share?" Before Jarvis could respond, Simon assured, “We can! I don't take up much space, and I'm a quiet sleeper. I won't disturb Mr. Dave!"

With both parties in agreement, Eileen gave her consent for Simon to stay.

Josephine then chimed in, "Actually, I don't take up much space either. I can share a bed with Eileen..."

Egbert shot a cold glance at his mother, "You're leaving."

Josephine glared at him, "But I...”

Rosalind quickly intervened, "That's right, Josephine. You should sleep at the villa. It's more spacious. I can share a room with Eileen..." Eileen sighed, "Mom."

Rosalind paused. The way her daughter said "mom" melted her heart. She agreed, albeit flustered, "Alright, alright. I'll listen to you. I won't disturb you, whatever you say!"

Eileen blushed slightly at her mother's acquiescence.

Half an hour later, the Lopez family had left, and only the original four guests remained.

Phyllis felt a pang of guilt, “It feels like we chased everyone away."

Eileen finally eased up, slumping into the couch with a languid air. "The guest rooms are limited here, they couldn't all fit even if you guys weren't around," she said.

Simon sat nearby, wisely keeping his mouth shut in fear that his aunt would remember that he was the one who had brought all these people here. At that moment, Egbert emerged from the kitchen carrying a plate of fresh fruits. He settled beside Eileen, noticing the tiredness on her face. Without thinking, he took her hand in his, placing it on his lap, and began to softly massage her fingers.

Eileen was eating a strawberry and tried to pull her hand away, but the sensation of Egbert's massage was too comforting. She let him continue, greedily savoring the feeling.

The group chatted idly for a while.

Suddenly, Egbert felt a weight on his shoulder. He glanced over to see Eileen, still clutching a strawberry, had leaned over and fallen asleep against him.

The room fell into a stunned silence.

Phyllis asked in surprise, "Is Eileen that tired?"

Egbert didn't respond.

Indeed, this dinner had been quite the ordeal for her. Her mind and spirit had been on high alert for hours. It wasn't so much a physical fatigue, but rather an emotional weariness. Only when her heart had been pushed to its limit did she uncontrollably drift off to sleep, revealing her frail and weary state.

Egbert sighed and said to the others, "We should turn in for the night."

With quiet agreement, everyone went back to their rooms, leaving Egbert and Eileen alone in the living room.

Egbert gently wrapped his arm around Eileen, letting her sleep against him while his other hand continued massaging her fingers.

At the control monitor, the assistant director sighed in exasperation, "They really don't care about..."

"Click."

The assistant director turned to see the director sneakily taking pictures!

"Can you stop taking photos?! And don't use the flash! You're not revealing behind-the-scenes footage, are you? There's a confidentiality agreement! Wake up, you're our director, not E&E's biggest fan!"

The director, while getting scolded, took a couple more shots and quickly said, "I've stopped, I've stopped...oh, Eileen's awake."

The assistant director glanced at the monitor to see Egbert and Eileen in the same position, but Eileen's eyes were now open.

"Good thing I was quick," the director said with a smug grin.

The assistant director wanted to smack him over the head at this point.

However, with Eileen awake, the shooting for the day was almost over.

Just as he was about to call it a day, he noticed on the monitor that Eileen, despite waking up, closed her eyes again after a moment of silence. She remained in the same position, nestled comfortably in Egbert's arms, letting him hold her hand as she pretended to be asleep once again.
