Chapter 262
Three days later, on the day of departure for their honeymoon, the three couples gathered once more.
The production team had rented a spacious tour bus for the occasion. As the bus hummed along, casual conversations bubbled amongst the group.
Hobson, struck by a sudden thought, turned to inquire, “Did anyone else hear about that spectacle a couple of days ago? All the neighborhood strays gathered around Ms. Lopez and Mr. Reed's place. It was quite the sight! Anyone know what that was all about?"
Egbert and Eileen simultaneously fell silent.
Eileen was a little embarrassed-she couldn't very well divulge that kitten, still seething from being taken away by its owner, had come back the next day with a posse to corner Egbert, looking for a showdown.
Trying to deflect, Eileen sheepishly came to Egbert's defense, "I... um, I made some fish. Maybe they caught the scent."noveldrama
Sylvia chimed in immediately, "That must have been delicious!"
Eileen managed a strained chuckle, "I'll make some for you all next time."
Sylvia quickly responded with gratitude, "Thanks, Eileen!"
Aurora Bell and Calvert were seated at the back. Aurora seemed a bit under the weather, leaning back to rest.
Calvert then asked, "Does anyone know where we're headed this time?"
Hobson replied, "I think it's somewhere cold. The crew gave me a heads up the other day but told me to keep it under wraps. They said to remember to pack winter clothes."
Sylvia, taken aback, glanced at Hobson and declared, "But they also told me in secret to pack summer clothes!"
Hobson's eyes widened in shock, "What?"
Calvert then added, "The notice I got also said to bring winter clothes."
Sylvia quickly turned to Eileen and Egbert, "Eileen, Mr. Reed, what about you?"
Eileen answered, "They told me to pack for summer."
After she spoke, all eyes were on Egbert.
In a calm tone, Egbert stated, "Winter."
The group was perplexed. Did this mean the guys were to bring winter attire and the ladies summer wear? What was the meaning of this?
They all looked towards the front where the director's team sat, who merely smiled mysteriously.
However, their secretiveness didn't last long.
Forty-six hours later, after enduring a mind-wearing odyssey involving planes, trains, hiking, off-roading, and ferry rides, the six guests finally arrived at their honeymoon destination.
To one side, an endless stretch of beach. Behind them, a towering, desiccated jungle. Ahead, the vast, azure ocean.
Above, a few buzzing drones circled annoyingly.
The three dolled-up mock couples, laden with bags, stood bewildered on the beachfront, watching as the boat carrying the crew and directors drifted farther away until it vanished.
The salty scent of the sea wafted over them.
In their minds echoed the last words of the directors before their departure, "Welcome to the Desert Island Honeymoon Experience. By day, it's a scorching 104 degrees Fahrenheit, and by night, a freezing 20 below. This uninhabited island will be your home. You will have no water, no food, no shelter. But hey, you'll find both your winter and summer clothes useful here! So, have a pleasant trip!"
The pale blue waves crashed repeatedly against the pebbly shore.
After a moment of silent contemplation, Sylvia suddenly crouched down and planted a stick in the sandy shore. Facing the ocean, she closed her eyes and brought her hands together in prayer.
Hobson, puzzled by her actions, asked, “What are you doing?"
With sincere reverence, Sylvia bowed her head and said earnestly, "I'm paying tribute to the directors. I genuinely hope that in their next lives, they get a chance to be human."
Hobson was left speechless.
What do you think?
