Wilbur had lost interest in cultivating ever since falling for Augheimer's ploy. Since he could not advance to the upper dimensions, he would not be able to become a servant of the dimensional guardians, and thus could not return to Earth from a

few decades ago.

Even if he was to return to Earth now, everything he had known there would have changed already. If he could not return to the past, then there was no point in going back at all.

Yes, Wilbur would just stay and cultivate in Tevinter Town. It was probably best for him to make more friends, then.

That afternoon, Liam introduced Wilbur to a brown-haired cultivator. "This is Teller Andrew, the spirit cultivator sent over by the Andrew family. He'll be living with us from now onwards."

Liam then turned to Teller and said, "This is Trevor Penn, the Robert family's dragon clan cultivator."

Wilbur and Teller exchanged glances, nodding at each other in acknowledgment. Teller's gaze looked strangely familiar to Wilbur as they locked eyes. He felt like he had seen Teller somewhere before but could not remember it.

As Teller was a representative of the Andrew family, he was rather reserved while speaking and the conversation eventually tapered off.

Liam had a few drinks with everyone to quell the awkwardness. A few drinks later, he took out an envelope and handed it to Wilbur. "Your friend came looking for you several times, but you were too drunk to wake up, so he had me give it to you."

"Oh, thanks."

Wilbur blinked as he took the letter from Liam. He returned to his room after the meeting, took the letter out, and was about to rip it into pieces. However, he considered that Augheimer coming three times must be a sign of his sincerity. On top of that, Augheimer's goal behind his actions had been to keep Wilbur in the middle dimensions. Augheimer was worried that what happened to him when he first entered the middle dimensions would happen to Wilbur again.

That was his way of protecting Wilbur.

After giving it some thought, Wilbur ended up deciding to take a look at the letter. After reading through it, joy rippled through his expression.

In the letter, Augheimer told Wilbur he had been doing a lot of reading up on the nine major towns. It turned out that Light Town was not the only main town with a portal to the upper dimensions, but every main town had a portal like this with its own dimensional guardian.noveldrama

However, some changes in the middle dimensions caused the upper dimension cultivators to lose trust in the middle dimension cultivators. Thus, eight of the portals to the upper dimensions were sealed off and the dimensional guardians returned to the upper dimensions.

That was why Light Town was the only main town with a portal leading to the upper dimensions, and the dimensional guardian watching over it was Odysseus.

The dimensional guardians spent most of their time living within a barrier, and Odysseus in particular was never really too interested in the affairs of the middle dimensions. Thus, there might be a way for Wilbur to cultivate in the upper dimensions if he was able to go around Odysseus and past the barrier.

Another way out was to locate the portal that had been in Tevinter Town before and find a way to rebuild a connection to the upper dimensions from there.

Both plans sounded simple enough but putting them into action was going to take quite a lot of effort. Heading to Light Town would be akin to walking straight into a death trap, making that route a dead end.

The second plan seemed achievable, but there were countless cultivators in the middle dimensions who must have been searching for a way to the upper dimensions for ages. No news had come out of that, which meant that it would be a rather impossible task after all.
