Chapter 431
At that moment, all Nadine could picture was Brad's signature on the divorce agreement. Her heart was racing with the thrill of it all, as though she was about to do something illegal.
Once he signed the agreement, her goal of getting a divorce would be accomplished. The mere thought of it made her mouth water.
Nadine wished she had thought of this earlier. If she had, she could've just gotten Brad drunk at home, held his hand, and forced him to sign the agreement. Then, their marriage would've ended a long time ago, and she would've been free by
now.
Realizing she was about to get divorced soon, she was so excited that her hands started shaking while she held the pen. Her heart lurched as soon as she sat next to Brad.
Even though he was drunk, he was still somewhat conscious. When he noticed the person he had been longing for sitting right next to him, he sobered up a little
more.
He blinked a few times, as if he couldn't believe his eyes. It only felt real when Nadine covered his mouth. Her palm was soft, and it smelled like gardenias. He stared at Nadine, transfixed.
Earlier that evening, when she had rushed out of the hospital without so much as a backward glance, it had cut deep. He didn't think she'd show up now, so it was kind of a shock when she did.
The drunken Brad sat there like an obedient child. His beautiful eyes were glued to Nadine as he gazed at her, and the affection in his eyes was almost overflowing.
After she sat down beside him, he continued to stare at her and called out softly, "Nadine." His voice was low and tender, filled with warmth. Even the way he looked at her was unmistakably affectionate.
His chiseled face was flushed from alcohol, and his eyes were glazed over, as if veiled by a thin mist. Nadine felt as if she was being pulled into a vortex as he gazed at her.
Brad reached out and wrapped his arms around her waist. "You're not allowed to abandon me! I'm your husband!" His tone was domineering, as though Nadine was his subject.
However, she wasn't in the mood to argue with him. Her only goal was to get his signature on the divorce agreement. Hence, instead of
pushing the intoxicated Bradel
she smiled warmly, grabbed his left hand, and placed it in her palm.
She said in her softest voice, "Yes, my dear, of course. Whatever you say, okay?"
Back when they lived in Phoenix Villa, she used to calm him down this way whenever he got drunk. Brad was a pretty good drunk. He
wouldn't make a fussels
scene. Instead, he'd let her
whatever she wanted, and he'd be as obedient as Sean.
After hearing his desired response, Brad loosened his grip on her waist. He mumbled something under his breath, as if he was expressing emotions only he could understand.
Occasionally, he would tighten his

arms around Nadine's waist, as though searching for an anchor. He was like an anxious child who needed to make sure she there in his arms. Every time he touched her, his fingers would trémble-like he was really sad.
"I know I messed up, Nadine. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Jeanie... She lied to me. I had no idea she was able to do that to me."noveldrama
Nadine completely tuned him out. Holding his long, slender right hand, she stuffed the pen into it. "Oh, what did she lie to you about? Why don't you tell me after we finish this little game?
"Come on, be a good boy and listen to me. Let's finish this game first, and then I'll listen to your story, okay?"
Truth was, she couldn't be happier. He was deceived? Served him right! This was karma at its finest!
What do you think?
