The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella)

Chapter 1619

Catherine's phone, though they managed to find it, had taken a dip and refused to switch back on. Mirabella spent the whole afternoon trying to bring it back to life, but her efforts were in vain. It seemed like whatever secrets it held had slipped away with Catherine's passing, never to be uncovered again.

Frustrated, Mirabella tossed the screwdriver onto the table and slumped back in her chair, her bloodshot eyes losing their usual spark. What was the point of her knack for fixing gadgets if she couldn't even get one phone to work? She closed her eyes, feeling a little sorry for herself.

After a while, she took a deep breath, opened her eyes, and carefully put the phone back together, returning it to its original but still lifeless state. The recording Summer mentioned, the one that could have offered a glimpse into Catherine's life, remained a mystery-perhaps lost forever.noveldrama

When James heard about the incident at school, he dropped everything and rushed back to the hotel. As he walked in, he saw Mirabella sitting there, motionless, looking pale and defeated. He paused, then walked over, ready to speak, when he noticed the phone in her hands. Wasn't that Catherine's?

James, seeing how upset she was, gently asked, "What happened? Is that Catherine's phone?"

Mirabella's eyelashes fluttered, realizing she wasn't alone. She wiped her face and looked at James, managing a bitter smile. "Am I useless? I can't even fix a phone. It's the only thing Grandma left behind."

James felt a pang in his chest. He stepped forward, wrapped his arms around her, and pressed her head against his chest. "It's not your fault. Maybe this phone's fate was just meant to be."

Mirabella held the phone tightly, murmuring, "What's fate? A tragic end? Or an unbreakable cycle?"

James held her close, his eyes deep and unreadable, as if he'd heard her but didn't know how to respond. After a long pause, he finally said, "Don't overthink it. Things are okay as they are."

"Maybe," Mirabella replied softly, trying to let go of the thoughts she couldn't untangle. Life's about moving forward, after all.

They stood there quietly for a moment until a knock broke the silence.

James let go, ruffled Mirabella's hair gently, and said, "I'll get the door."

"Okay." Mirabella nodded, slipping the phone back into her pocket.

At the door stood Robert, a few of Mirabella's friends, and some classmates from the math

department. They were momentarily

caught off guard when a young man answered.

Blaze, who had previously met James over dinner with Mirabella, was the first to recover. He cleared his throat and said, "Hey, we came to check on Mirabella. How's she doing?"

James nodded slightly, keeping a polite demeanor. "She's doing alright."

"Glad to hear it." Blaze peeked past James into the room, letting out a sigh of relief.

James opened the door wider, inviting them in for a chat.

Blaze quickly thanked him.

Robert, walking beside Blaze, gave him a questioning look, silently asking who this man was and what

was going on. Content below

Blaze glanced back, subtly shielding his mouth with his hand, and whispered,

"Mira's... friend."
