The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 739

Back then, Nathan had confronted his boss to give him his salary because the latter refused to transfer it to him.

He had cursed out his boss and said, "Fuck you! What right do you have to withhold my salary?"

Because of what Nathan had said, he ended up getting beaten by his boss' mining protection squad for half an hour. By the time they were done with him, Nathan's mouth had been split and broken, and he had passed out in the mine.

In the end, it was Farrell who sent him to the clinic. After Nathan had recovered, he staged an accident to kill his boss and unknowingly earned hundreds of thousands of dollars.

It was then that Nathan discovered an easier way to earn big bucks, which was to murder people. Ever since that incident, Nathan took on the path to become an assassin.

Later, he discovered that Farrell and his family were struggling to make ends meet, so he pulled Farrell into his schemes as a form of gratitude for saving him back then.

Nathan never expected to make it big, but he formed an assassin's organization in the end, which he then named The Misfortune's Veil. In this organization, the only person who was truly close to him was Farrell.

Farrell knew everything about Nathan because the latter told him so. He knew Nathan was an assassin, why he became an assassin, and what his line of thoughts were.

Though Farrell and Nathan shared no blood relations, Nathan knew that Farrell was the only one in the world who truly understood him.

Now that Farrell had died, Nathan felt the loneliness seeping into him. There was no one else for him to turn to and carry out a heart-to-heart conversation anymore, and the more he thought about it, the more hatred he began to harbor.

In the end, Nathan clenched his jaw tightly. "Watch it, Matthew! I'll be coming for you-you're dead!"

Back in the room, Matthew stood amidst the corpses with a tormented expression. "Y'all forced this on me!"

After he said that, Matthew let go of the hammer and let it drop to the ground with a loud clang, making sparks fly from the friction of the metal with the ground.

The door creaked open, and Caleb stood frozen for a little when he saw the bloody scene in the room. He then threw up after making a sound.

Upon seeing that, Matthew frowned and asked, "Why'd you come in?"

Caleb wiped his mouth with his sleeve before he pointed at the door and said, "Mr. Larkin is here."

Upon hearing that, Matthew walked out and instructed, "Tell them to clean the mess up."

After having replied to him, Caleb walked outside.

By the door were Dominic, Lucien, and Leo, who were chattering away.

Dominic smiled as he asked, "Say, how many people do you think he's killed today?"noveldrama

Lucien then put up his hand and said, "Five. There can't be so many people in such a tiny room."

Dominic agreed with him and shared his own guesses. "I think so too, but I'm guessing four people."

After Dominic and Lucien had made their guesses, they turned to Leo and said, "Your turn."

Leo had thought otherwise he thought that there must have been a lot of assassins who came to kill Matthew, so he made a bold guess.

"I think he killed ten of them!"

Having heard that, Dominic felt they were a little absurd. "If anyone heard us betting over the number of people Matthew has killed, they might think that we're monsters."

After a moment's thought, Lucien said, "Well, that's true. But all of the people Matthew killed deserved to die.

"Like the ones from The Misfortune's Veil today-they'll take the job as long as you give them money, and they won't ever question your reasons for doing so. They have no distinction between good and evil, so they're the real monsters here."

Dominic nodded in agreement and said, "Back then, my mom used to tell me that there were a lot of good people in the world. But it feels as if there were more bad people than there were good people after coming to Lambda City—especially after meeting Matthew."

At this moment, Caleb exited the room and said, "Mr. Grant told y'all to clean the place up."

Immediately, the three of them scuttled into the room. The moment they opened the door, they stood stunned in horror.

All of the corpses had blood flowing out of their head, and there were more than ten corpses littered across the floor-men and women, and even an elderly man. When Matthew noticed their expressions, he murmured, "Thank you in advance." After he said that, Matthew walked out of the room. Seeing Caleb guarding the door, he walked up to him and said, "Thanks! If you hadn't tracked their movements for me, my family would've been at risk if even one or two of them slipped through."

Caleb smiled. "I should be the one thanking you. Had you not saved my wife and kid from the psychiatric hospital, they might have really gone insane from getting tortured."

Matthew smiled back. "I still need your help for a few days. Set your sights near my house and let me know whenever you see anyone suspicious."

Caleb happily replied, "I'm glad to be of use, but I've got a heartfelt request, Mr. Grant."

Seeing how polite Caleb was, Matthew got a little curious and asked, "What is it?" Caleb then replied with a serious expression, saying, "I'd like to join you-if you'd have me."

Matthew felt a little uncomfortable hearing that, and he replied with a smile, "Join me? It's not as if I'm in a gang or something. You're looking for the wrong person."

Caleb then shook his head and said, "You know what I can do. Once I plant my cameras, I can not only see what happens but also hear from it.

"I know you're not an ordinary person too, because I heard that you're a Juprus. Though I'm not sure what it means, I know that it means something remarkable, because even the General of the army shows you respect.

"I know I might be trying to reach beyond my league-I'm merely a gambler, after all. Still, I want to give it a shot, and I'll understand if you were to disagree."
