Chapter 1781
Chapter 1781:
Harlee fixed her gaze on Celine but maintained her distance. It had been ages since Celine had vanished following the downfall of the Cavendish family.noveldrama
“I’m here now. When will you release my father and my son?” Harlee asked, her expression unreadable.
“What’s the rush? You haven’t even knelt to apologize to me yet.” Celine’s smile was carefree, a hint of deeper malice behind it.
“Let me guess—how many of Twilight’s operatives did you bring? A hundred? Two hundred? Has all of Twilight come to see me? I’m truly flattered!”
Clearly, Celine had not only survived her disappearance but had also sharpened her ruthless edge.
“Tell me, what do you want from me in exchange for freeing them?” Harlee’s tone grew even colder.
“What if I told you I have no plans to release them? What would you do then, Harlee?” Celine giggled, her laughter turning increasingly deranged.
“That expression… Harlee, are you thinking of killing me? Go ahead! Your child and your father will join me in hell, so I won’t be lonely!”
Then, Celine’s demeanor suddenly shifted to icy seriousness.
“Bring me the money. Kneel down and beg, and maybe I’ll let Lonnie go.”
Such a sharp turn in behavior? Harlee’s eyes drifted to Celine’s ear, partially hidden by her hair. Someone else had to be involved. But who was truly pulling the strings?
Harlee said slowly, “The twenty billion you demanded isn’t a small amount. Brenton is still gathering it.”
Her goal was to keep Celine distracted—anything to buy more time.

Harming her father and her child while discreetly probing for the mastermind behind it all, Harlee remained composed.
“You’re trying to buy time?” Celine narrowed her eyes at Harlee. “Fine. It’s your father and your child who are suffering, not me.”
Suppressing a smirk, Celine raised her hand slightly. An armed guard stepped forward and projected the live condition of Lonnie and Felix onto the wall of the deserted factory.
“So? Harlee, do you still want to buy time?” Celine’s smirk widened as she saw the fury ignite in Harlee’s eyes, then burst into mocking laughter.
“I need to see them myself.” Harlee’s hands, once resting calmly at her sides, had curled into tight fists. She fought to restrain the anger boiling within her.
Celine taunted, “Harlee, do you really think you’re in any position to negotiate?”
“Let me see them, or you get nothing!” Harlee snapped, knowing that yielding would only complicate matters further.
“Losing your temper so quickly?” Celine laughed. “Motherhood really has changed you.”
Harlee said nothing, holding Celine’s gaze with a cold intensity. Above all, she needed to confirm the safety of her child and her father. Without that, she wouldn’t risk any moves.
Celine had initially intended to prolong the argument, but a sudden directive through her earpiece shifted her approach. Swallowing her irritation, she changed tactics.
She strode up to Harlee and, without warning, slapped her hard across the face. Then, she kicked her forcefully in the stomach.
