Living With My Lady Boss

Chapter 804

Wilbur smirked. "And what if I don't want to leave?"

Bobby sputtered, not knowing what to say in response for once. Wilbur's air of authority was unlike anything he had ever seen, and he was starting to panic a little.

Wilbur scoffed, looking at Kory. "What really happened?"

Kory, having escaped the death he had been chasing, now seemed to treat Wilbur like an outlet to express his emotions.

"Please, Sir, help us out here. We're both working-class people who have never taken out a loan before, but a month ago we received a letter of reminder from the bank for a loan of eighty million dollars. Apparently, the loan was overdue, and we were to pay up, but we never even borrowed that money in the first place!" Kory blurted out, his voice shaky.

Wilbur frowned. "Couldn't you just have the bank prove that?"

"We went to the bank, but they said the loan happened three years ago and they don't have the records from then anymore. We took a look at the loan contract, and it was indeed applied for under our names, with our IDs too. However, the signatures didn't belong to us at all. We asked for an appraisal, but they rejected it and just insisted we pay up. They had our houses sealed off by the court, and these people hound us to pay up every single day. We've lost our jobs and even lost a place to stay. This is no way to live, we're terrified every second of our life!" Kory said, sobbing even harder.

Wilbur sighed. It was not far from what he had predicted.

Wilbur had pretty much understood what happened from the conversation just

now.

Things like this happen all the time.

There were countless cases of banks making things up to scam others, and this was no exception.

Kory and his family had just been unfortunate enough to be caught in the middle of it all.

They had been pushed to the brink of suicide. It was clear how terrible these people were.noveldrama

Wilbur also happened to be terribly angry with no place to let it out.

He looked at Bobby calmly. "Who do you represent, and why are you chasing these people for payment?"

"We're from a finance company. The bank's given us full power to handle this loan," said Bobby boastfully.

Wilbur snorted at the words at once. This was a clear case of the bank pushing a difficult account over to the loan sharks.

Who knew how many families these loan sharks had torn apart, how many people they had pushed to end their own lives?

Loan sharks were known for their ruthless methods and would stop at nothing to get the money.

Kory and his wife were a good enough example. It did not take a genius to tell that something was off in their case.

Of course, that did not matter to these people in the slightest.

As long as your name was on the loan contract, you were to pay up regardless of anything.

Wilbur glanced at Bobby and turned to Kory. "Get up. I'll take you to the bank to get to the bottom of this."

"Really?" Kory lit up but shook his head right after. "We've lost count of the number of times we've gone. They won't even let us in now."

"You've got nothing to worry about as long as I'm here," said Wilbur. "Do you really want to die with your kid?"

Kory and his wife paused for a moment.

Of course, they did not want that. They had been in a state of utter despair and made a rash decision.

They could hardly contain their regret now. To think that they were almost going to kill their child.

Kory slapped himself in the face, breaking into a sob. "I'm an animal, I'm a monster!"

"There's nothing to cry about now. Take me to the bank," Wilbur said with a frown. Just then, however, Bobby said, "What's this? Are you going to pay off his debt?" "Yes. Is there a problem?" Wilbur retaliated.

Bobby snorted. "What a gentleman. It's ninety-five million and a hundred thirty-six thousand dollars including interest. I've done you the favor of rounding most of it off for you too."

"Sure, but why would I pay you? That money's going right back to the bank."

Bobby seemed to waver at the look of confidence on Wilbur's face but eventually scowled viciously. "Go right ahead! I'd like to see just what you manage to get up to. I'm coming for you if the bank doesn't receive payment by the next day."

"Oh, you're more than welcome to do that. I live right here, so feel free to drop by," Wilbur smiled.

Bobby sneered coldly, casting one last glare at Kory and his wife before driving off with his men.
