Chapter 817
"No, don't. He's only good at boasting. He doesn't even know what's going on and thinks we're in Dasha. Forget him," said Hannah.
Harrod fidgeted worriedly. "What if Cape gives us trouble for this?"
"We'll deal with it when it comes. Let's go," said Hannah.
Harrod nodded, turning to leave.
At around two o'clock that afternoon, Wilbur switched off his laptop. He headed to the bank after that, withdrawing some money.
Wilbur returned to the hotel with a suitcase filled with cash. He stared at the dollar bills, falling deep into thought.
These countries were clearly still under the control of other countries. Even their currency was from another nation.
What future was there for a country like this?
Would things be different if they were to be run the same way Dasha was?
Wilbur fell deep into thought.
It was unclear how long had passed when he raised his head all of a sudden.
He could tell from his inner consciousness that Hannah and the rest had already left Goldsand City.
Wilbur smiled. He changed his appearance to that of Trevor Penn's before heading out and calling for a cab to take him out of the city.
The driver was a local in his thirties, bubbly and chatting with Wilbur the entire way there.
Wilbur gave himself an Infinite Linguist spell, bantering with the driver every now and then.
A few hours later, the sky grew dark, and the cab was now far away from the city.
The car slowed to a stop, and the driver turned to Wilbur. "I can't keep going anymore, Mister Penn. It's not safe out here, especially at night."
Wilbur nodded. He took out a stack of money, tossing it at the driver.
The driver's eyes widened.
That was more than what he made in a whole month.
Wilbur was about to leave the car when the driver hurried to say, "Why don't you write me your number, sir? That way you can just call me the next time you need a ride. It'll be a lot easier."
The driver made a good point.
Both men then exchanged numbers, and Wilbur waved the driver goodbye. "Bye, Moses."
"Good day, Mister Penn. Be safe!" said Moses, before driving off happily.noveldrama
Wilbur waited until the cab was out of sight before summoning the flame serpent.
It was positively overjoyed to get out, flying about excitedly in the air and spitting out flames every now and then.
Wilbur leaped up to sit on the serpent's back. "I'm letting you out this time. Let's go."
Just like that, the flame serpent began soaring ahead with Wilbur on its back.
It would be an abnormal sight to others, but there were hardly any people now that they were out of the city.
That evening, Hannah and her men stopped in a small town.
Hannah and Harrod had booked a travel inn for her and her security team to stay in for the night.
Wilbur stopped in the air above the town. He gave it some thought before patting the flame serpent and leaping off its back to land a little outside of the town.
The flame serpent let out a whoop of joy, soaring off toward the moon and out of sight.
Wilbur made his way into another inn in the town, pushing the door open. The inn looked positively decrepit, with a lounge that looked more like a pub. There were several shabby-looking, dirty men in sleeveless tees and overalls chatting over their beers. Two attractive middle-aged servers in revealing clothes weaved through the crowd holding their trays. They were groped every now and then but did not seem to mind. In fact, they would often flirt back.
Wilbur's foreign features drew the crowd's attention at once.
"Hello, Mister. Staying the night here?" one of the servers asked him.
Wilbur took out a few bills and put them down on her tray. "Yes. Get me a cleaner room, please."
"Sure, Mister. No problem." The server lit up at the sight of so much money.
Just then, however, several men sitting nearby saw this interaction. One of them,
a burly-looking man with a white beard, eyed the money hungrily.
What do you think?
