Chapter 818
Wilbur saw this but merely smiled before turning away to follow the server up to the second floor.
The server pushed one of the doors open with a smile. "This is our cleanest room here, sir."
Wilbur peered inside.
It looked to be something you would pay below a hundred bucks for in Dasha. It was acceptable, at the very least.
He nodded.
Just then, the server batted her lashes at Wilbur. "Do you need any other services, sir? I'm really, really good." She leaned into Wilbur, pushing her chest against his arm.
Wilbur took out two bills, stuffing them into the server's pocket with a smile. "I'm fine, thank you."
"I'll make you feel good, sir. None of those idiots downstairs have ever gotten this special treatment before," said the server.
Wilbur smiled. "No, I'm really alright."
"Okay." The server looked a little disappointed. As she turned to leave, she said, "Sir, you should keep the door locked if you're on your own. It's safer that way."
"Got it. Thank you."
The server shrugged, leaving with a look of wistfulness on her face.
Wilbur snorted to himself. He closed the door and sat down on the bed, beginning to meditate.
Later that night, the inn was dead quiet.
The drunkards had all gone home, except for the man white beard and his friends. They came to the second floor, each one of them holding a weapon.
"Are you sure we should be doing this, Tulu?" said one of the blokes.
Tulu was the name of the bearded man. He glowered at the man who spoke. "Foreign man here on his own with all that money? We'd regret it for the rest of our lives if we let him go."
"You're right," another man said, nodding profusely.
"What are we gonna say to Boss though?"noveldrama
Tulu sneered. "I'll give him some money to shut him up. You can f*ck off if you don't want to do this."
"Yeah, Kula. The guy looks like he'll cry one punch in, you're more than welcome to stay out of this. All the more for us," someone else piped up.
The man named Kula gave it some thought and ended up putting down his weapon and shaking his head. "Sorry. I just can't."
"Coward."
"God, you're useless."
"Get out of the way, then."
Kula left under everyone else's jeers.
He had five children to take care of, and desperately needed money.
Yet, in the end, his conscience won over his greed, and he chose to leave.
Tulu scoffed, leading the other three men up to Wilbur's room.
They raised their daggers, preparing to kick the door open.
Just then, however, a black ball of fire appeared above their heads.
The flames burned away brightly but emitted a freezing chill instead of heat that made them tremble all over in fear.
"What the hell is that?" someone shouted.
Just then, the ball of fire split into four and fell on each of the men.
All at once, all four men were frozen to the spot. It was as if they had turned to stone, completely devoid of life.
The next morning, Wilbur opened his eyes and stretched in bed before freshening up.
He smoothed out his clothes and walked out of the room.
Wilbur hardly even paid a second glance to Tulu and his friends, who were frozen
in place, walking right past them.
A light breeze kicked up as Wilbur passed them. Tulu and his friends shattered into a million tiny black crystals the size of a grain of rice, scattered on the ground.
Wilbur got downstairs, waving hello to the server cleaning up.
The server stared back at Wilbur as if she had just seen a ghost.
Wilbur returned a smile and turned to leave the inn.
The server stared after him for a long time before shakily making her way up to
the room Wilbur had stayed in.
What do you think?
